Why?? First, DDR is music based meaning; that just about any genre of music could be used. That in turns means that the amount of music that could be used is pretty much perpetual. With the right amount of dedication, ever increeasingly difficult songs could be made and different ideas could be realized. Plus, other technical attributes of music could be used opening up bold new possibilites. Such as different timing schemes and adjustable scales and what not. One really could see the best in the world if just enough imagination and popularity was put into it.
This thought sounds very possible to me. So why can't all of you guys really see something like this happening. Sure, DDR isn't hard to learn, but seeing those that extremely gifted would truly be a dream come true. It all has to be done in the right way.
I hope my opinion opened some new avenues to explore in this thread. |

An arcade game as an Olympic sport?

<<YOu guys should be ashamed. Video games can easily be sports, they have that competitive edge, and if there are enough people playing it who want to be competitive, it can certaintly be a sport. >>
If it requires physical skill and stregth.... MAYBE...
<<Just because an activity is competitive, that doesn't make it a sport. Just because DDR requires you to use more physical activity than most videogames, that still doesn't take away from the fact that "it's still just a videogame". I doubt that the world is going to accept any videogame as a sport, since they're mostly just simulations of the real things.>>
Well... ESPN did a show on POKER. In fact it was aired LAST WEEK on Thursday. Yes, guys sitting around a Casino table, playing cards... ON ESPN. If they can show something like that, why can't DDR?
I've heard rumors that ESPN is thinking of filming a DDR competition, but I wouldn't take my word on that. DDR being an olympic sport, no. A future sport, yea. Something's gotta start out somewhere. Will DDR one day have a huge national competition being aired on TV, possibly. _________________
