I think ClayOK posted this like a month ago. I never thought Nintendo would try anything like this, crazy.

As much as I love Taiko no Tatsujin, I was hoping for more then just... Taiko no Tatsujin with Donkey Kong characters. Like, a lot more. And don't say they're two completely different games, because they are almost exactly similar (judging by the pics). Both games have four spots you can hit on the drums, the notes/scroll things scroll from right to left and you need to hit them when they hit the circle, there is a little bar at the top just like Taiko, etc.

Me sad. But me want.

Looks like the game is going to be very inexpensive:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=75&products_id=3841

$60 for the game AND controller seems like it's a great price since most music import games are around $60 just for the game without a controller. I just hope a store like NCSX.com has it because I don't feel comfortable ordering from Lik Sang after hearing customs sometimes seizes packages from them.

fanboys are irritating

Err, no offense or anything, but they're right when it comes to this not being related to DDR at all. The only thing this has in common with DDR is that they're both music games. You use a drum, not your feet. You control some of the sounds in the music, not dance to them.

The only music games it really shares similarities with are Taiko No Tatsujin and Drummania.

IGN has a songlist up:
http://cube.ign.com/articles/455/455683p1.html

I'm not that impressed with the songlist other than the few Nintendo songs and Turkish March (since that's what Pump It Up's Turkey March song is based on)

What kinds of songs would you expect? It's not like Nintendo is gonna get a whole bunch of Bemani songs or whatever. Plus it's a conga drum game. Is there actually popular music that uses them? I had zero expectations of the songlist and am actually sort of surprised they have some of the things they do. And like the article says, if anything like that is ever released here, I'm sure it'll have a different list, since it's not exactly US-centric.

I was expecting more Latin type music, like the type of music that's in Samba De Amigo. I guess I wasn't expecting so much TV and Anime music.

That just seems.... Wrong. Donkey Kong was alright, and yeah, I can dig drum music games, but a merge of the two seems a little far-fetched.

Leave it to Nintendo to fulfill their reputation for good games that just seem a little too childish for the masses... Oye.

I wonder.........do you think the controller could be used for Taiko No Tatsujin? I have a GCN to PS2 controller adapter. I wonder if it would work - cause I've been looking for a cheap alternative to importing the TnT controller.........

The fact that it's good. Oh, wait, I mean...that it's fun. Uh, no, I mean...that it's an interesting idea. Uh, dammit, I mean...that it appeals to every age group imaginable. Crud, I mean...it's an instant party game. Uh, no, what I meant was...it's zany and wacky enough but not TOO out there. Crap, I meant...alright, I'm stumped. What IS wrong with Donkey Kong(a)? It sounds to me like Nintendo just saw an opportunity for a good pun that involves one of their signature video game characters. It seems like the game itself really has absolutely nothing to do with Donkey Kong.

Still--sounds like fun.

Apologies for the bump, but I'm just wondering if anyone's played this yet. I got a Cube for Christmas, and I'm tempted to get a boot disc and import this, but 90 bucks is a bit steep for a blind buy.
