I echo everyone who said it is crazy hard for folks in their 20s-30s (I'm 24) to explore this possibility ... locals at both places I go (Malibu - Redwood City / Riptide) are way younger. I've met plenty of nice people there, don't get me wrong. But the age difference is a killer. At Mailbu, either I'm playing aomngst a crowd of younger kids ... or extolling the game's virtues to adults/parents much older than me. All extremes ... nothing really in the middle, come to think of it.
My last ex thought the game was pretty childish. So I agree that not knowing whether the person likes it in the first place isn't the best variable. Even if you're good at it ... and I consider myself fairly experienced - 3 years - kind of bored of doing single-pad stuff, so I love doing heavy doubles routines.
Finally, if DDR is a common interest between two people, why can't it be a catalyst for further interaction? Maybe it's the "childish" aspect of having an arcade habit in common. Although looking at arguably more "adult" habits ... drinking yourself silly with liver-killing liquid ... smoking until your lungs blacken and shrivel ... trying to hit on anything in a skirt ... racing on an unmarked road for money ... maybe smashing arrows and dropping 50-80 calories in 5 minutes doesn't seem so immature after all ... :<)

p.s. ddr dating service indeed ... why not ... what site doesn't have a singles forum these days! |
I wrote this on August 17 ... and about 2 weeks later ... it was almost as if I had predicted my own fate.
I ran into a young lady who played DDR as well ... while both of us were playing, some random kid asked her how old she was ... and right after she said "24", I knew I could not let this opportunity pass ...
We have been dating for a month now. Since that time we have played DDR together once and seen mostly other sights while hanging out. Guess my 4th paragraph about "DDR being a catalyst for further interaction" was clairvoyant too!
Fate is funny like that, I guess. No complaints here. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Ya my ddr boyfriend is so fun to be around! If we both weren't interested in ddr I don't know what we'd do, in fact ddr is one of the major things that brought us closer. I couldn't really imagine dating any one else who plays ddr, I already landed my handsome/sex machine/cute beyond words prince, and I don't think there's two of them out there. _________________

Well the DDR guys can associate with males in general. The things that you said about them I can relate to 99% of the males that I've come across in my lifetime...which is another reason why I hate my own gender...
hah dont forget the Hawa'iian boys
well honestly...i do kinda agree with you that DDR dating wouldnt be the best thing for me specifically mainly because I'm a pretty sensitive and emotinal young man myself...and again I couldnt perform as well because my mind would definitely be on other things to do with the girl...via movie...getting something to eat...and what better way to spend a date all nice and sweaty |

How in the world did this post get brought back from the depths of the Chit Chat Doom?
Well, the guy that I'm currently dating had no idea how to play DDR, I taught him less than two months ago and already hes as good as me in many ways. Mind you, I've been playing for a year and a half now. In many ways its a lot of fun having a b/f who shares in your love for the game, but in many others it can suck. Because hes been playing for a short period of time and is so good, he can get real cocky at times and yet, in many ways, hes still a total noob. It can be real annoying when he beats me....yeah, I'm jealous, just because he picked it up so much faster than I ever did. So, it can certianly lead to a lot of problems between the two of us. Nothing too big, just me telling him to shut his mouth about how good he is and then he gets all butt hurt about it. I suppose it can cause complications when you are a very competive person like I am and the one you taught starts to surpass you on certain songs. But I am very impressed that hes been playing for almost two months and can pass 9 footers. _________________

Hello everyone!
Wow, I had no idea there were that many girls on DDR Freak! LOL I thought it was mostly all guys. I was sure wrong. ;p I would love to meet a girl that's actually into DDR. All the girls I know say they have never even heard of the game or think it's stupid. My ideal girl to meet would be:
1. A Christian
2. Plays DDR and likes going to the arcade
2. A fun person to hang out with
3. Loves music and plays an instrument
4. Plays DDR (did I already mention that)
5. Lives in Modesto, California
I guess you could say that's my dream girl! LOL

Well i am a ddr guy, but in my own life experience, it never works out. Its ither a one road relationshihp or you get too competitive over each other.
It starts out 1337 but in the end it just doesnt work. I remeber this one time when im playing wit my gf and i skool her aa the whole thing and she onli gets a b. She slaps me and says its over. and i reali thought i had a thing going.... Other times its just i ace it and other one fails it. You ppl may have got different experiences but w/e... |

u gotta remember...
MOST ddr girls are..
from 1 to 10... maybe 5 at most....
by ddr girls, i mean girls who play ddr... not a girl who just plays once or twice... (cuz those ones can be REALLY hot...)
No offense to u DDrgirlz of washington, cuz if u are kute then i probably haven't seen u LOL
Also, girls who play video games are either stoners, anime freaks, wanna be aznz, ugly/social outcasts/low selfesteem(that's usually a package deal LOL), and sometiems u find an actual azn girl playing ddr *gasp*.. being kute is usually a 1/3 ratio for dem,
So DDRFreAkx, it's not surprising that a ddr girl got mad at u just bcuz u smoked her at DDR... relations are better built in another setting _________________
