I have a Red Octane metal pad, but I want another and I don't want to buy from Red Octane. So, is the Cobalt Flux the same size and will it be able to play doubles with the Red Octane metal pads, Thanks for any answers! |

Well, you can play doubles with any two pads.
But anyways, the Cobalt Flux is 100% totally flat, unlike the Red Octane which has a small drop, so you can feel where you are. A CF will cost you more, and if I remember right, one pad is taller than the other by like 3/4 inch.
Why do you not want another RO? |

yeah, the CF IS a little shorter.. and it IS completely flat..
so it would fell MEGA weird doing doubles..
If I were you, I'd stick with another RedOctane. _________________

Yeah. I heard the CF was flat and that's what has kept me from buying one (also found out about another nice, cheap platform which I should be getting in about a week and a half. I'll let everyone know then if it is indeed an awsome find). |

I own a CF and I'll tell you it's not completely flat, the center panel is slightly elevated over the rest, and I mean slightly, but it's enough to tear my socks open after playing for too long, it helps tell you where you are on the pad. Not to mention you can feel the arrows being depressed slightly as well, so you can always tell exactly when you're triggering the step.
As for playing doubles, CF has a nice metal connector that screws into two CF pads and is designed to place them the exact same distance apart as in the arcade, I would assume it wouldn't connect a Red Octane though, and even on carpet my metal pad will slide on some pies, especially when playing with shoes that grip more. _________________

Ok. But in a metal pad, what I want (atleast) is to be able to play at home, then go to the arcade and have it feel the same. |
