David, if you really loved me, you'd put more Drummania tatsujin videos up on bemanistyle. |

Gwok Gwok_
Model DD4 IS in Drummania 8th, however:
You have to S a Bonus Track song.
You have to S the Extra Stage, "Black Horizon" (I love this song^_^)
Then you get the Encore Stage, "Model DD4".
--
They have different Extra/Encore stages for both normal and bonus modes. Model DD4 is the Bonus stage Encore.

P.S> Maybe I should put tatsujin videos up. I'm certain I suck...but maybe if I do 'One Phrase Blues' on Extreme (lvl76, and I CAN actually pass that one) it would be impressive enough to submit^_~. |

Okay, that's what I thought, cuz I remember hearing DD3 in the past, and me and my sister were in awe when someone played the new Model...so where is Mad Blast? I saw it as an Extra/Encore, but I can't remember. _________________

heh.....a new DM player here....somewhat
man, this game is tooo good!!! But so far i can only play Percussion Freaks 1st mix, and i keep seeing on the records for session mode, what is that??? is it like non-stop, and more importantly, would i be able to play it??? (my current level is low real mode, i can beat eyes of the kids, and onion man, real close to beating ska ska no 1 and heaven is a 57' metalic gray)
also, i saw a friend play w/ speed mods, but could someone explain to me how to get it???
also, i'm gonna be going to pheonix for school soon, and they have a 8th or 7th there (not to sure the mix) but i read in the earlier posts (like the 1st-3rd pages) and i keep seeing about the ratings being described as like 20's 30's etc. etc. how does that work???
one last thing, can someone gimme like a link or something for a complete songlist....
thanx for any help!!!! _________________

I'll probably do some sooner or later. But I'm at college right now, so unless you want videos someone playing DM 1 or 3 on a Topway controller, you'll just have to be patient. ;-)

Gwok Gwok-
Mad Blast is the Encore stage for "Normal" play mode. "Kaleidoscope" is the Extra stage for that. If you S Kaleidoscope, you get Mad Blast. Get it?
O2K-
Session mode is the term given to the capablility of GuitarFreaks and Drummanias of corresponding versions (i.e. GF4th/DM3rd, GF7th/DM6th) to have a "session", or to allow players on both machines to play the same song at the same time, sorta playing off of each other, in a psuedo-band kind of situation. In versions up to GF6th/DM5th, Keyboardmania also could session, though since Konami has stopped Keyboardmania at 3rd mix, the latest versions of GF/DM cannot link (with Keyboardmania). But, yeah, that's session for you. You won't be able to "session" unless you have a corresponding GuitarFreaks cabinet. Of course, since you're on PF 1st Mix, I don't really know if it will session or with what Mix of GF (2nd I'd assume) but if there are high scores for Session play I guess you must be able to.
Speed Mods: Although how you change these alters from Mix to Mix, there IS a constant. If you hold down the start button (while in a song, so I do it at the beginning) and press the selection arrows, you can adjust the scroll speed. I.E. "Start+Left" for slower speed, and "Start+Right" for faster speed. I think that, even in the earliest modes of Drummania, the scroll speed increases/decreases by .5 every time you press a direction while holding down start. In the earlier mixes of Guitarfreaks, you can only change the speed in values of 1. You can change the speed in GF by holding the "Start" button and pressing the Green or Red (I think) buttons...whichever ones are on either end of the row...i.e. the middle button doesn't adjust speed, but the left one (towards the top of the guitar) slows while the right one (towards the base) hastens. I don't know any other ways to change speed on the OLD versions of Drummania...so...yeah.
As for the 8th and 7th...Once DM hit 4th Mix I believe, the difficulty levels changed to a scale of 1-100 (much more variable in range) as compared to the simple 1-10 star difficulty in earlier versions. Not only that, but the difficulty of DM has risen considerably as its version numbers have climbed. This means that a song that was 5 stars (lets say lvl 50 on the new ranking system) is now only like lvl25, if even that much-and things can start getting really hectic around as low as lvl32 for the inexperienced player.
So, whatever you do, stick with lvl10s-30s until you feel you have the new difficulty system down pat. Don't rush right in.
Oh, and never play with auto-bass on^_~.
_Chris
P.S.-
As for songlists..........um, if you go to Konami's official websites for the games, you can generally find the songlists. I don't have the URL on me, but it shouldn't require much more then a simple search and navigation. Hmmm, but you might not know Japanese...even simple Japanese, so it could be hard. I'll help you out more if you need it. |

Yup, the Start button + other button has worked since GF4/DM3. These were also the first versions to have incremental speed settings, rather than the old Fast Flow (3x) and Super Fast Flow (6x) from GF and Speed Up (2x) from DM. GF started the .5x increments with 7th Mix. And to clarify, for GF, it's Start + Red or Blue.
For old GF games, the speedup code is R G B P P.
And for 2x speed on DM 1st, do this code at the mode select screen:
Hat Snare Hat Hat Snare Hat Kick
And that takes care of everything else there is to know about speed mods. ;-)

Another newbie question:
How am I suppose to step on the bass petal?
Should I rest my toes on top of that little piece above the petal and push down with my heel, or should I rest my foot entirely on the petal and push down with the front of my foot? _________________

Once you get better, you'll learn what's best for you.
I kinda shift my foot position, considering whether I have to do a continuous bass roll, or if its just a constant bass line, or if its a kinda random configuration.

I tend to lift my foot up and push down with the entire foot for each bass. Although, I play standing up, so it's awkward for me to do it any other way. |

We don't have a stool, and never did, so I just learned to play standing up. It's not awful; you just can't cross over easily. I mean, I can almost pass Centaur standing up, so it obviously doesn't affect me too much. |

It's amazing what you can find on the internet :) I'm not sure if everyone knows this already, but there's a code to unlock the 6 hidden songs from GF 9/DM 8. (Daikenkai, Out Of Breath, regret, Yellow Panic Time, Happy man, Voiddd)
On Drummania, go to test mode, and highlight "Game Option." Tap on the drums Hi-Hat, Snare, Hi-Hat and then start. The secret screen will come up (Like in DDR.) Put these codes in...
VQZNIGT-TDJPDBC for Daikenkai, Out of Breath and Voiddd
SGJCDPY-WUUEFLQ for regret, happy man, and yellow panic time.
That's all there is to it. Out of Breath and regret is amazing. We here at RP Scandia tried it out this morning on a PF machine, so I assume it works everywhere.
Found the code on http://www.ne.jp/asahi/hatati/issetu/ (looks like the code has been out since 9-1!)
EDIT:
(Oops... yeah, typed the second code wrong... fixed it... Thanks for the correction!)

WHOA. That is awesome. Where on the site did you find it? I want to see if he's got the GF9 code, too.
EDIT: Wait, I think I found it. It looks like it says hold R + B on the 2P guitar, and hit 1P Start with Game Options selected. Can anybody confirm this?
EDIT [a]: It looks like the codes were mistyped in one of the locations. Here's what's on the site:
VQZNIGT-TDJPDBC
SGJCDPY-WUUEFLQ
If one set doesn't work, try the other.
