I need some ideas for a gaming facility / arcade. Like cool events and nights that you'd personal go to, or ideas that you think would bring people in.

PC LAN and/or Arcade ideas.

Of course there will be tournaments and what not, but I'd like to hear some ideas from other people.

Also, if any of you know how much certain arcade games bring in, that'd be great to. Games: ddr extreme, MvC, SvC2 or 3, Initial D, beatmania (any), and Time Crisis 3.

All help is appreciated.

Oh and if anyone here owns an arcade, please say so.

Thanks

seems to me that depending on where you will depend on your buisness... i'll take my local time out for an example.... They have 1 ddr machine. It's play constintly from open to close. Sometimes the wait would be up to an hour. Well if they had 2 then they'd double there income from the machine and still have them both be played constintly with at the most a 30 min wait making not only better for them... but more convienant for the players. But you should only do this with one as a test to see if you get enough people to get a good ammount of money from the machine and if it's played like the one that i'm near, increase your income with two.. don't spend 10 thousand dollars when you could've spent 5 thousand and get the same ammount of money. Another thing is that i think sign up sheets are better than the coin line... This way someone that dosen't have a clue how to work the coin line can still sign up and try the game without the fear of messing up like going too early or too late because you can see the line better with the sign up sheet...Also don't dwell your arcade around ddr... sometimes dancers may want to play other games while they wait, you'll also get more non-ddr players to come if you also bring in a lot of other cool games... But don't hide the machine, one location they pretty much hid the machine that i almost didn't find it. My recommendation is to Center your machines where everyone can see them, that way they can stay close to the machine and still play most of the games and know when it's there turn... Also try to encourage without speaking... what i mean by that is if you can find a neat colorful poster or something to advertise your machine is there and have it colorful to kind of appeal to your players, what i mean is try to make games that most people are afraid to try appealing enough that they might try, i might sound crazy but i hear that colors that appeal usually help buy products in grocery stores, so why not try that with ddr.... Another thing i want to add of all my suggestions is don't have your arcade a secret, advertise, try to make your arcade that big thing everyone wants to go to... advertise listing your games and if it's a commercial find someone really good at some of your games and shoot video of it to kind of think "wow that's cool"
also then they know some of the games you have... i hate going to an arcade then find out that all the games they have suck... Also have the DDR music loud enough to engulf your arcade, instead of playing music in a loudspeaker... let the game do that for you...

Game Ideas:
Pac-Man - oldie that is there for some classics
Galaga - oldie that is there for some classics
Top Skater 2 - interesting skatebording game
Crazy Taxi 3 - fun game that i enjoy
Cruisin Exotica - Good racing game
Arm Champs 2- if your on a beach let the muscle men try this game tongue.gif
Brave Fire Fighters - Game i saw once, probally not for the kiddies if it's the same one i saw tongue.gif
Boxing Mania - interesting game, kinda easy but gets harder.
Rapid River - rafting game
Step Champ - kinda like ddr, only kiddish
Police 911 - intersting shooting game
Addam's Family - pinball machine
Horse Race - expensive but the best arcades use it i.e. Jullians, Dave and Busters, and amusment parks... reccommended for big arcades
Slap - original game where you slap a dummie, relieves stress and if you hit him hard enough, he cries tongue.gif

all the games can be found on coinopexpress.com

Also get a ticket turn in machine to serve people who want tickets faster if your going to do that in your arcade... that way you don't have to count each person's individually, they get to do it themselves and is convienent.

Sry if it's long but i wanted to help biggrin.gif also, i don't own an arcade but i wish i did....

Hang around in an arcade in your local area for a while and get a feel for what the people who go there like and don't like about the place (and which games are played naturally)..you wouldn't want to come to enviro-friendly city where i live and have it full of deer hunter games laugh.gif Just make sure you have a good balance of new, newer, and old skool classic games, and pinball will get the adults rolling...

Shouldn't this be in the non-music games forum?

Very interesting stuff. How much capital do you think you'd need to open up an arcade? Anyone know where I can find this information? This is a fantasy I keep toying with...

Are you leasing or buying your machines? This is very important, I would suggest leasing them. Granted, you make less per machine, as you have to pay the lease fees every month, instead of paying one lump sum, but you make more in the long run, as when a game loses its popularty, it is a simple matter to change it out for a new one.

Many arcades thrive on gambling machines E1.gif it attracts adults rather than just kids, broadening your customer range, and gambling games can be pretty addictive... my brothers friend owns an arcade and sold most of his games for gamblers to make more money.. frown.gif

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

Ah, if only I could set up a video projector in my house and charge people to play StepMania. I'd need metal pads, though, for that much use.

*only thinking out loud*

The other big thing that attracts a lot of people is SC2, good and fun game and also fun to play Conquest mode for when you have no one else to face.

Don't forget Initial D is the most popular game in the world right now... but I find that Guilty Gear X2 is pretty awesome...
