There is a clear tape on the arrows, and when i peeled it off, it left marks on the arrows.. but I used some GOO-GONE, and that solved my problem..

I like it better than the CF because it is JUST as responsive, feels more like the arcade. it literally DOES NOT move. It lights up when used with a PSX->USB adaptor. IT is thicker. IT doesn't make the annoying wood hitting sound. It actually HAS a select button. The CF's 'select' button is actually TRiangle..

Anyways..
For all you other people with RO pads. HOw long have you had it, and is it still in good condition?

Also.. I ordered mine Ground, it cost me EXACTLY $240. I got in 4 days. It was a pretty nice

Well I've had my redoctane pad for about a month and I've only had a few small problems with it. I had trouble with that sticky stuff on the arrows. took me forever to get it off and my lights stop working too but its not a big deal, the pad resopnds great. I've AAA'ed on it nd also passed Max 300 and Max Unlimited. The only thng I really didn't lke was the shipping. Airbone Axpress is a hobbile shipping company. it took them 6 day to deliver a pad that i bought the wed before labor day weekend and I didn't get it until moday. I caled them and talked to them and they tell it that it was an error on their part and it had to be delayed a day. I was pissed. wha they went on to tell me is that because of the dimentions that it would take loger to get to my house because there was NO Gurantee at all. to make this story short I love my RO pad but i'll tell everyone the only thing that you won't like is the shipping.

NeoNex- We are expecting more metal pads in early- to mid-October. Your order would get shipped either the same day or the day after we receive the container, depending on what time it arrives.

DDRDemon- What method did you use to get the pad shipped to you, Ground? Did it take longer than the actual shipping time we state on our site (i.e. if we say 3-7 business days, and it arrived on the 8th business day)? If so, you should be entitled to a refund for shipping. Contact Airborne Express and tell them that because they were late, you want a refund for the shipping charge. They will issue a credit to us (RedOctane), and give you a reference number. Email that reference number and your order number to [email protected], and explain that you want a refund for the shipping charge. We'll confirm it with Airborne, and as long as it's confirmed, you should get a refund for the shipping charge the same day you email us.

Whew... time to go home! wheeeeeee!

Has anybody's metal panels start to bend? On the old third party metal pad that RO sold, the three metal panels (center, lower left, and lower right) started to bend upward for me.

Not yet, still holding up great for me.

Also I transport mine between a few different places in my Jeep all the time and it still has yet to have any problems.

There are metal bars welded all around the pad. I don't think you'll have a bending problem anytime soon.

I got my pad today and put a couple hours into it and my initial impressions were both good and bad.

Good

The pad is heavy and the enitre bottom is covered completely with nonstick material. This means that the pad barely moves at all during play.

It seems like it is built to last. It has that metal bar all the way around the pad and it feels like this pad will survive armageddon

The buttons are very responsive. They register at even the slightest tap.

Looks awesome. Got complements on it.

Bad

Unlike the arcade where the entire arrow is rigid the arrows on this pad are very flexible and only depress where you apply pressure. This might sound like nitpicking, but it really is a big difference when getting it to feel like the arcade.

The arrows are *almost* flush with the rest of the pad. This makes it very hard to know your "pad presence". It is easier to know where you are when you play barefoot or in socks, but the metal scrapes your feet and it hurts (esp. barefoot). I suppose why it says to play in shoes. I found I knew where I was better on my friend's BNS DX ignitionish softpads. It sucks when a $40 softpad can beat out a $200 metal pad.

When I read posts on here about the sticky stuff on the pad when you first get it, I thought it was just useless doggy. I realized I was wrong. It is so annoying to get it all off. I'm going to have to take apart some of the pad just to be able to get it all off (it looks like they put the sticky stuff on before they screwed the brackets in). I'm also going to need to get some Goo b gone to get all of the residue off.

People said I must be pretty obssesed with the game to spend a total of $240 on a pad for it. I'd say yes, you must be.

Overall

Its a cool pad, but doesn't come as close to the arcade as my expectations thought it would. When you go into something with really high expectations, its easier for it to not meet them. If I were to do this again with what I know now I would have been much more reserved to shell out the money for this pad.

I'd say that the arrows need to be covered with rigid material, the entire pad needs to be more rigid, the arrows need to be depressed more, make the solo arrows an option and just have those two spaces metal like the bottom, and make the control box into a controller.

It is a DECENT pad that could use improvement..

i had the RO pad for about a week and it's been great ..... but like stated earlier the sticky stuff is a pain..... also my arrows on my pad are starting to bow a little.... and the start button on the control box got stuck but that was an easy fix. but overall the pad was a great buy!

Yes, if you want to play on a metal pad in Soxs or bare feet, get a CF. The RedOctane is definatley not ideal for use in those cases

On the RO pad there's a warning to always play in shoes. They aren't kidding. CF is much nicer to play in socks or barefoot.

I'm probably going with Red Octane for a metal pad, as I think the company has got some solid products out there, and the price seems right.

But just got one thing I am wondering: I've played on the Mad Catz (complete crap), Red Octane normal (pretty decent), and arcade (perfect) pads, and I want to know, how solid is the reaction. I couldn't care less if I have to wear shoes or not (because am I the only one who thinks sliding on the soft pads is cheating?), and I really think the normal Red Octane pad, while it is pretty slip-resistant, is still pretty annoying when it comes to not feeling the arrows. Just wondering that. And how much more durable is the CF to RO metal pads?

Red Octane Pads are still kinda of unproven in the long term durability catagory. So far everyone who has one has stated that they hold up amazingly well, but as for 3, 6 , 12 or more months out. No one knows yet.

I was one of the first ones to buy an RO, but I do not play on it as much as some people around, so even though mine is a few months old, I do not consider it a great judge.

The responsiveness of the arrows rocks. People have reported double AA's on 10 footers with the RO (I am not that good yet)

It does not feel exactly like the arcade, the buttons are not as recessed just as an example. But overall it is the closest I have felt.

I've had my pad for three days and the lights already stopped working.

Its no big deal cause I don't really care about the lights, but that is still pretty pathetic.

Though according to the warrenty, RO will probably exchange it for ya no cost

If I remember correctly in an e-mail exchange I had with them they said that if there were any problems they would cover shipping. Probably not the fastest shipping but ehh...

I would contact them and find out.

If something BAD happens to my RO.. like.. arrows start ghosting, or the c-box poops out. im just gonna tlel them to take it back, and i'll get a CF.
