OK, I expect this to be a bit weird to most of you. Heck, it's still weird for me.

I was at the arcade, joking around and playing DDR Extreme. I whipped a few people, but after the 2nd, hardly anyone would play against me.
I had done everything I wanted to do, except one thing: play PARANOIA survivor on Heavy.
I chose it, and stomped the down arrow a few times to switch to Heavy.
I hit the button. As soon as the background appeared, I had the weirdest feeling. You know, like when you're nervous, but when you take that step and do it, you kinda get all calm? Thats sorta what happened.
(this is the weird part) I saw nothing but the screen, heard nothing, and only felt my feet moving. I got about halfway through when I ran out of breath. I hopped off and let a kid I was hanging out with take over. I looked at the wall where everyone was.
They were dead quiet, and actually STARING at me. Not like "you're a fool" staring. More like "that was the most increadible thing I've ever seen and I'm struck for words" staring. I felt like an outcast.
E2.gif I later asked a friend what the problem with them was. He said that I was moving my feet so fast that they were a blur. I felt outcast even more, since no one I know at Star Castle can play PSO on Heavy and pass it. E2.gif
I had a lifebar the whole time.
The only arrows I really felt were the speed gallops. I think thats what you call them.

Anyone else had a weird experience like this? If you have, please share it.

Be lucky it wasn't PSMO then...sure, Take would be impressed, but then you REALLY would have been an outcast.

Welcome to the DDR elite.

This doesn't have anything to do with experiences, but it pisses me off when people are playing with other people, and they get a higher score, they think that they WHIPPED them. Most people don't care.

I guess I am a DDR Elite, Wolfman. Darn, I've only played for 6 months. I'm also only 13. I guess that's pretty good.

CORRECTION: I now know of one person at Star Castle who can pass PSO Heavy. Poetic Raven. Darn him, he's passed half the 10's on Extreme. I'll get MAX 300 before him, I swear I will! And bag on 1x. I can almost do it on 2x. And LOM.

I've had a few weird DWI exps. I was plain PS on heavy a lot, then I decide to play Love shine. I got 270 perfects and 27 greats with a 270 combo. Also, i was plaing Max 300 a lot, then i play Across teh nightmare. 300 perfects, 30 greats, and 300 combo. I'm like 0_0 In both, I forgot how many goods misses and boos I got. Just call me 'Stellar Fingers!" ha ha hah!

Heres the thing about me. When people are watching, I do OK, and look good. But when I'm by myself, and the music is challenging, I go into a zen like state. I'm serious, I let my mind take over. My arms are swinging like mad and I probably look like a hunchback, but it's awesome.

You can't pass bag on 1x, Max300 or LOM? How exactly does that make you a "DDR Elite"?

Although, I had an experience similar to that. I picked PSM heavy and passed it. People were staring, only they weren't amazed because everyone and their grandmothers can pass PSM on heavy.

I'm the opposite. When I'm by myself, i look good, but when im with a crowd, it's exactly like what you said, and then at the end of the song like the other DDRs tell me to calm down and do just leave my arms at my side. biggrin.gif It sorta freaks me out.

I can agree, but i can do better when there's a guy (or girl) next to me doin' the same song on the same difficulty - then a crowd comes and when a crowd comes I do WAAAAAAAAY better E9.gif

Also...anyone else here waiting for September 24th, 2003?E10.gif

It's called 'the zone' when you dont think of anything, not even the arrows. I've been there a couple of times, and yes, people have watched in amazement. E4.gif

Phatasy Star Online? i think you mean PSM, which means Paranoia Survivor Max, the mirrored and sped up version of PS, which means Paranoia Survivor. or, you could have met PSM oni, which is the Oni difficulty steps to PSM.

actually, you suck compared to me, most of my friends, the ppl i've competed against, and the ppl i've read about.

unless you can do that, don't go around bragging, cuz there are plenty of ppl who are 150 times better than you.

Not me then... what happens on the 24th?

As for the subject, kind of. I was playing Boys on Challenge diff (don't laugh, it came up randomly). Also to make things a bit more interesting I had it on Oni mode (ie the four-strikes-and-you're-out lifebar) Got all cocky when I saw it come up, then promptly realized it was fxping hard and was staring bullets at the screen trying to get the keys right (I'm playing on DWI). Anyway the weird thing is I was getting in an argument with my fingers or something, because I'm looking at the arrows and sending all these completely wrong instructions to my fingers, which were promptly ignoring me and doing their own thing X_x which just happened to be precisely the correct presses. Also at a couple of points some huge mass of arrows comes up which I've got NO idea how to deal with and think "oh crap failure aho... oh what the hell, combo continuing?"

Anyway I think I fullcombo'd it, but it was quite weird.

(Kapitane notices an interesting discussion, dodges nimbly through the elitist firefight in the middle, makes it through to the original point).

Yeah, I've had bits and pieces of that experience. Not going into "The Zone" for an entire song, but when I was moving up to heavy (way back when), I would be speeding up, keeping with the song, then a storm of arrows would come up the screen. I'd be "What the hell?!", lose focus, but my feet would shoot out and get all the arrows, near subconsiously, then my brain would take over again. Very nice (and not a scary I-play-too-much warning sign at all, oh gosh no).

Bemani-man? NEVER feel outcast because you've done something others haven't. If they have a problem with it, then that's exactly what it is - THEIR problem.

I had an experience like that. It was my first time doing HVAM on heavy.

Right on that part in the end were it's like 30-45 seconds of stream. I felt nothing, I saw I was hitting all the arrows, I look down at my legs, then looked up and the screen and thought 'GRAVY!'

I thought it was nifty
