A Japanese arcade game, made in Japan, all in ENGLISH??

Heh, I guess this has probably been asked, but besides the 4-5 sentances in DDRExtreme in japanese, why are all the songs (from the roulette wheel) mainly in english, if this game was meant for Japan? If I was Japanese, and could not read English, that would piss me off...

It's like that on 5th mix... the screen that says "THIS GAME SHOULD ONLY EVER BE PLAYED IN JAPAN" (whoops

) is entirely english!

It is a bit confusing, isn't it? But believe it or not, a lot of Japanese games have a lot of English and surprisingly little Japanese text in them. DDR and other Bemani games are one example of this, many fighting games have relatively little Japanese in them, too, save for things like Japanese text for post-fight quotes and Japanese in-game speech. There are exceptions to this, of course, namely RPGs... which have Japanese everywhere, but in arcade games English is rather common in Japanese games. o_O

The reason for this is that English is spreading more throughtout Japan nowadays. So it's not rare to see more English in Japanese games, and other Japanese stuff. But what about the Japanese who don't know English? The poor souls. *sniff*

I think by now, most Japanese schools probably require students to learn English, as most non-English speaking countries do now.

Man, if they taught Japanese in US schools, that would have been one foreign language class that I would have enjoyed, and passed.

Ya, the only part where there is Japanese in DDR Extreme is the warning screen and some songs (Sakura, Kakumei, blue impulse etc.). English is becoming like a universal language now.

Sure, they teach Japanese in MAGNET schools but you're really lucky if your parents'll let you go to one! =( There's always college...

I go to a public high school and they have the option to take Japanese but you have to wait until you're in 10th grade so i have to wait another year...

Hehe, I'm a sophmore and I'm in Japanese 2!

Theres no way I can fail a class I enjoy this much, the teacher is really cool, he taught english in Japan and has been all over Asia so has lots of stories to tell, and he's one of 2 Japanese teachers in the whole area.
