I'm trying to figure out at which arcade, DDR appeared first in the US. I'm guessing one of the following places:
Arcade Infinity (I only guess this because AI was at the forefront of Bemani for a long time, but thinking about it logically, it would make sense that DDR would have to come out before an arcade specializing in Bemani were to open)
Santa Monica Pier (first tournament in the US was held here, I'm pretty sure)
Southland Hills Golfland (I'm not sure why I think this is a possibility, but for some reason I do)
Any help? |

If I do remember my history well, there were four possible locations that were the first to have the DDR (mainly 1.5 mix) machines in the US:
Cyberzone Arcade, Koreatown, LA, CA: Saw this one back in April of 1999 (when Jenith was mastering the machine).
Super Arcade, San Gabriel, CA: This was the old location before it moved to its current location in Walnut, CA.
Southern Hills GolfLand, Stanton, CA: Saw this machine back in May of 1999.
Palace Place, Irvine, CA: Saw this machine back in June of 1999, before it changed its name to Boomers of Irvine.
Hope this helps! Please correct me if I'm wrong, okay? Please reply, over! Thanks!

I swear I thought I heard back in the day that the first DDR machine in the US was in Seattle ... not sure though ... since that was a long time ago and I dunno if that source is reliable.
In the words of LeVar Burton, "Don't take MY word for it.."

I would assume it's somewhere in Southern California, though not Arcade Infinity. AI hasn't been around since 1999. If my memory serves me, AI was formerly known as Ultrazone, and was located somewhere else before. I could be way off there, though, since I'm not from the area. Personally, I think Tempest's guesses are probably closest. |
