I have one of the connectors fro Lik-Sang. Unfortunatly it's one of the connectors that apparently doesn't wok according to Phreks faq. I downloaded and installed NTpad and followed everything the faq said. For someone reason the up, down, left and right arrows won't work but the up-left, up-right, start and select does. How do I map them correctly?

It sounds like it could be an "ignore joy axes" kind of problem. Are you using SM or DWI? One thing you can try is manually adding a joystick to your game controllers and mapping the arrows as buttons. I dunno, just some thoughts.

I was using DWI, I downloaded SMCVS nand the buttons map correctly now. But I still have a problem. left will not register if I am holding right and down will not register is I am holding up. Is this a problem with my adaptor or a software problem?

I believe that is an adapter problem. I have heard of that problem, but I am using SM CVS with a different adapter (BOOM Converter thingy from Lik-Sang) and I have never experienced it.

Lik-Sang have a variety of Usb adapters. You decided to buy one of the ones which isnt reccomended for Stepmania or DWI. :/

See the FAQ sticky topic for a list of WORKING adapters

Ironically, I have the same problem with Stepmania CVS 3.9, but when I play 3.0, everything is just fine.

I got the pad to work. Go to your input options, and turn your automap joystick OFF. That did the trick for me.
