Heh no, I still have yet to pass a 10 footer and nowhere close. 11 and 12 footers will devour and eat me alive. PSM Oni to me is a 11 footer or 11.5. _________________

BMR's V edit is a really good low 11 edit.
Foys 12a drop out edit is a legit 12 footer.
PSMO is a like the hardest 10C you can get with out hitting an 11 foot.
LoMax is a good 10b.
Sakura is as easy as ten's get (along with bag when played with speed mods). I personally cartoon heros is harder than sakura. _________________

Here, I'll keep the original names and go up from there...
1: simple
2: moderate
3: ordinary
4: superior
5: marvellous
6: genuine
7: paramount
8: exorbitant
9: catastrophic
10: cataclysmic
11: apocalyptic
12: psychopathic
How about these? I actually spent a lot of time thinking of these. There aren't all that many adjectives more powerful and insane-sounding than "catastrophic"...
EDIT: and oh yeah, I kept the "cata" in the word for the 10, too... hehe. 11's can be "apocas".
EDIT AGAIN: nooooo! I only read the first post and now I see that cataclysmic and apocalyptic have already been taken. That sucks. |

A song running at 500bpm? Quarter notes would be a stretch, eighths are out of the question _________________

Some people around here consider it to be like this:
Solid green (Heavy) steps: 10 feet
Flashing green (Heavy) steps: 11 feet
Flashing purple (Oni) steps: 12 feet
Therefore,
10 feet
Bag
Max 300
MaxX Unlimited
Paranoia Survivor
Sakura [H]
11 feet
The Legend of MAX
Paranoia Survivor Max [H]
12 feet
Paranoia Survivor Max [O]
I probably forgot something. Oh well. |

With all of the AAA's on the 10 footers. Max 300, LoM, etc. etc. I think it's time to raise the bar a little. The DDR scene is evolving gradually. I think it's time to get back on track and see what true DDR players' capabilities are.
I'm in with the 11 foot vote |

And I don't think those songs could push up BPM to get hard, seeing as BPM is beats per min, that means, a 400 beat song .15 seconds per beat, almost impossible for you to take in the arrows and move your feet I would think, and if it was a double, I don't think anyones body could physically move that fast. 500BPM would leave you all of .02 seconds in between beats, impossible.
So the real question is what would a 11 foot song have you do, not what you would call it.
My theories go as such. An 11 foot song would have some of the following:
... having you hit U D L R in one beat, at the same time
... have the outlines of the arrows at the top move up and down the screen
... have a hologram of a naked lady appear to distract you (it'd distract women too!)
... have two arrows on a freeze, while you had to bend down and hit the other two withyour hands, or whatever appendage you could think of
anyone got anything else? |
hmm....seems about rite 2 me...especially bout the naked lady...that would screw me up ... |

I support making things more difficult...i still have three songs to beat yet, but i believe that having something to shoot for is always good. Instead of introducing songs with ever increasing bpm (max, maxX, and LoM come to mind..300, 320, and 333) I would think they combine the bpm, with the horseshit inherent in the run of death of PSMO....the speed doesn't matter..yasu/take/aaron/bemaniac/jsb/yourpachampionhere will be able to read it no matter what, but making the steps more difficult at these high speeds instead of having the constant plethora of 8th notes would make it more interesting..I for one have a terrible time with cartoon heroes, could you imagine having gross steps like that at maxX speed? I think that's where the next step will go..or else we'll be seeing max 420.7 before long. *supports 11 foots* _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

I think that instead of just making 11's they should come up with a new scale for anything above 10.
Maybe dual foot symbols or an entirely seperate difficulty, like making new steps for songs considered 11 foot or higher, and keep 10 the max for Heavy mode.
So any song that has steps of 10 feet can keep it on the regular heavy mode, while any song with steps above 10 must have those steps in a different mode and still contain a stepchart for heavy that isn't a 10 footer.
This way we can keep the 10 footers for up and coming players, and have a special mode for expert players who want songs above 10 feet. As to how the seperate difficulty for 10+ songs is visualized I don't know, but it sure as hell beats just making 11 foot songs. _________________

I agree that constantly increasing the difficulty of songs by simply cranking up the BPM is the wrong way to go. But take a fast song like, say Drop Out, and combine it with steps like say, So Deep....
x_x I wish I could even dream of passing something like that . _________________

I know the names suck, 'specially mine, but some of us here are gothic DDR players with no taste. Like me. _________________

better than making 11-footers, we should have jump dat use more than 2 arrows at a time... like three or all 4... It could make for very interesting freestyles... and super-separated steps in doubles, like left on left pad and right on right pad, for splits... juss kidding, but jumps w/ 3 arrows at a time is a good idea _________________
