Hmmmmmmm I found DDR through my friend at his house...he taught me the basics of the game and such...and he got me into it. Mostly since then I've been playing at my local arcade during the weekends to get away from my girl/relationship problems and emotional problems. Sometimes DDR helps. But that raises a whole different question. _________________

I saw it at the movies. It's where I work at. A worker/friend of mine pressured me to play. I've been playing since.

I've sorta known about it for ages, but I never really thought much of it. First time I played was at Q-Zar, me and a friend saw some people played and decided we didn't care if he looked like idiots, so we tried it. We both (obviously) sucked at the time. ;) |

Lets see how i can sum this up rather quickly... I used to skateboard... then i got a g/f and became all kitty whippped.. that happend for about 8 months and then i stopped skateing cause i would spend my weekends with alisha and not with my skateboard... then i broke up with and i had allkinds of money that i was planning on spending on her.. then me and my friend walked to walmart cause we were bored and found a 4th mix plus solo..... then threw 15 dollars away playing 1,2,3,4,007 on basic and i was addicted.... _________________

well, ive known about ddr for almost 2 and a half years now. i saw it at some arcade that i dont remember and the little kid playin maniac scared the $H!+ out of me. so i played a couple months later at an arcade and sucked like the rest of us did.
then one day, my life changed. my brother swung the huge door as it let out a creak. he inquired, have you heard of ddr? my friend will sell it to you, the game and the pad for 20 bucks. i eagerly replied, sure why not. a week later, i was captivated by the beatiful colors, music, and scrolling arrows. i invited my friend over and saw his amazing skills. i soon hoped to one day to have his amazing standard skills.
sorry for the story there, but thats how it happened. |

I first heard about DDR through a magazine, thought it was the stupidest idea ever since it just showed a screenshot and not how you actually play. Later that year, (in 1999 x_x;, I found a US 1st Mix at Disneyquest Chicago. Played it once, then proceeded to play it again and again and again after that. o_O;; Kinda miss those days, since no one could pass anything more than Butterfly Basic/Light. And it was comedy gold when someone stepped on the machine for the first time and accidentally selected Paranoia. |

I first saw it in Las Vegas, it was a DDR USA machine and this d00d kept playing and wouldn't get off(I didn't know about coin lines then obviously) so I didn't get to play there, so when I went home I went to Six Flags and they had one and nobody was playing, it was all mine!! And that was the beginning of my addiction... _________________

Let's see...it was Spring 2000, I was in Vietnam, visiting relatives. Went to an arcade called "Spaceship" and I saw a 2nd Mix there. Looked interesting enough. Tried it out, failed right away. I don't touch a dancing game for another year. I come back to Vietnam next year, and we're at one of the malls in Saigon. There's like 5 PIU machines in a row. I'm there with my cousin, and I'm constantly pleading him to play a game with me. The only reason I want to play now is because everyone there was doing some MAD freestyling, and I wanted to be like them. At Spaceship, it was practically deserted, so I didn't know the coolness of the game. ANyways, after 20 minutes of begging and pleading, he gives in. We play one game. We're addicted. Game after game after game. That's my last day in Vietnam.
Before I go, though, I go searching for a DDR pad to bring home. This is one of those ones that has a game inside of it already. I get home, it doesn't work. We go to Lucky 97 (the city's leading DDR supplier) and get a pad. Sadly, we don't have any DDR games. One of the employees says he can get me a copy of the game. I'm ecstatic. A couple weeks later, I get the game. It's a 5th mix. In that period, though, I was able to aquire a 1st and 3rd mix. Anyways, I play at home for a month or so before I actually see a DDR machine at an arcade. It was at Kingsway Garden Mall, and I was there with a friend of mine. I'm like, "Holy crap! That's 5th Mix! I didn't know they had it at arcades!" Yeah, I was a dumbass. I start the whole begging and pleading to get my friend to play with me. I convince him to, and he gets hooked to. And then it goes on as I get better and better and such. Somewhere along the line I got a 4th mix. Erm yeah, now I'm in Single Heavy and Double Standard. Plus some basic freestyling. _________________

My friend got it for her birthday about 2 years ago. She had never heard of it, either, her parents just thought it looked fun and they got some cheap mats and Konamix. She brought it over to our friends house one day, and we all discovered that I was catching on to it pretty well . |
