I can read Daydream Advanced at 2x just fine, thank you. I can only get a C out of it, but at least I can still see how it goes
That would be me. And thanks, I guess.
All of these Break Down!/Be For U pics are damn cool. But I just don't understand why the one pic that I really really really want (all the girls from Break Down! in one pic) doesn't exist at all
I'm having a difficult time visualizing those drums making all those tropical noises o_O |

Let it be known that I still hate Cosmic Cowgirl. I cannot figure this song out for the life of me. I understand the hi-hat snare part, it's the cymbal and snare part that throws me off. The snare and bass are so random during that part. I've tried just concentrating on the snare, but it seems there is no pattern to it at all, and the fact that the cymbol is off beat during that doesn't help at all.
I need advice, it's one of my last songs I need to pass before I've mastered 3rd mix.
Edit: Oh, BBH, is this the one you're looking for?

Oh yes, and did you know about this? I can't read it, but I see DM 9th mix, so I guess it's announced.

Yeah, GF10 and DM9 are announced, and those are location test info pages. I've highlighted a few interesting things in the picture. Look here.

Cosmic Cowgirl is one of my favorites because of its underlying conceptual simplicity. Except for the fills, the whole song is variations on a repeated "tatatatata, ta, tatatatata, ta" rhythm.
Code: | 1---2---3---4---1---2---3---4---
*xABCBAx*xABCBAx*xABCBAx*xABCBAx |
The basic pattern for the high-hat +snare section is high-hat on A, snare on B, and bass on C. The apparent complexity arises from dropping certain notes from the pattern, switching the first B to bass, or doubling a note with the bass pedal.
There are three ride+snare sections. For the first, the basic pattern is bass on A, snare on B, ride on C. Then certain notes are dropped, generally the first B to create some three-note clusters. Note that the cymbal is on beat here, not on the half-beat as in the high-hat section.
The second ride+snare section is essentially the same as the high-hat+snare section, except of course you play on the cymbal instead of the high-hat. If you play crossover the two sections are basically identical. Here the ride is on the half-beats.
The third ride+snare section is pretty easy if you've ever played Holiday.
The first ride+snare section was the one that caused me the most trouble, but if you can internalize the basic pattern in each section, then it's not too hard to adjust for the variations that are presented in the actual song, especially since the variations usually consist of *not* hitting a certain pad at a certain time. |

Not really; it's Chikara(sp?) and not Break Down. Besides, I already have that pic
Argh, it seems to be hopeless. Maybe I should just photograph the Break Down music vid... |

[slight rant]
DM 8th's untranslatedness is kinda annoying me. How can I like a song if I don't know its name? That, and the rather high price and the stupid volume imbalance (I can barely hear the drums over the extremely loud music!)... grr, maybe I should wait until it hits other arcades.....

Is it just me, or is DM8's presentation a step back from DM7's? Everything's so... hardcore; and after you clear all stages, you get a total score instead of a song and rank summary like in DM7. What. The. Hell?!?
BTW, does anyone here find She Said...'s music vid creepy? The first time I played that song, I nearly got distracted because I got spooked! O_O |

Honestly. I thought GF9/DM8 was a step down in general from the previous mixes. The score system, the bar, the format, the bonus tracks (what in the hell?), and worst of all almost all my fave songs were removed. Although, I do like the fact they brought back Blind and Silly Girl.... But, they already got rid of Ultimate Power! It just came back one mix ago. I just hope the next mix will be as good as GF6/DM5. |

Yeah, GF 6 and DM 5 were the best. Konami shot themselves in the foot with GF 7 and DM 6, what with all the old song pruning. And since they removed the separate 1P and 2P notes, all the songs that relied on those had to go. No more Used Cars. Hopefully Konami can recover and come back with something really great. But with the speed they are releasing recent GF and DM mixes, I kind of doubt it.

Just be happy you guys have more than DM3rd mix to play on. It's all we have in Wisconsin. I have had the opportunity to play on a DM7th in California, and I can easily say it was 50x better. |

I don't. There's nothing newer than 1st Mix west of Lansing, and the newest PS2 release so far is GF4 + DM3. Argh.

Yeah, bummer. It was nice to play it again though, even if only for one more Mix.
So I guess I won't be able to play my Nonstop 1st Mix course (Ultimate Power, Across the Nightmare, Waza, and classic Depend on Me) on DM8 |

Yeah, none of the new stuff compares to Lucky Staff. (well the new stuff in the newest one anyway...) All the new ones from that were boring and easy(save a couple). The problem is if the songs too easy - they keep it. Too hard - keep it. JUST hard enough (Lucky Staff) - get rid of it... We need more revival songs.
Look at the bonus tracks. They have, like four repeats. The Riff Riffs, Classic Party, Jet World and P.P.R's were removed (a while ago) and the brought over the boring bonus tracks (save Pot Pourri and Famitsu) and added only a couple interesting ones (Cries and Used to Rock N'Roll) about 4 good ones total. The butchered it.
Now I pretty much never play the new stuff on this mix. And since they cut most of the good old stuff. There isn't much there anymore. I hope the next mix is more like GF7/DM6 - in other words, overhaul. But like you said they're coming out so fast, it doesn't look feasible. But, the faster this one comes out the faster this one leaves. Quite the forgettable mix.
Sorry for that. I just listened to some old K.O's and remembered how good the older stuff was....
on a related note I play on 3x speed |

DM9 looks like it will have good songs. Island in the Sun by Weezer is a pretty good adition, although I don't see how it could be that challenging. Also, a new classic party = heart. |

BBH -
www.bemanistyle.com just got the video up for Chikara. If all else fails, you could just use that to get the picture you needed.
That song sounds really fun, and the tom parts are really cool. |

You keep confusing Chikara and Break Down!
But still a cool vid regardless
And Chikara's tom parts aren't just cool; they're difficult too. Gah, Level 60+ songs drive me crazy... |

Huh? No, they really have Chikara under the "Drummania 8th/Guitar Freaks 9th" section of media. It's just the video for the song, not anyone playing it. You probably saw the Breakdown video under the Tatsujin section. |
