He's also possibly thinking about Beatmania II, which does have a headphone jack as well. BM IIDX machines do not.

See the Tatsujin videos on 6th Style~NSC for an example of a BM II machine. In one of the movies (forget which one) the player takes off a pair of headphones.

The IIDX machine at Konami/Amuseum in Osaka has headphones hooked up to it. Not sure how they managed that, and it would be a little suspicious if I went behind the machine and looked. Maybe it used to be a BM II machine.. not likely though, it's in perfect condition.

Um, despite logic dictating there SHOULD be one (considering it's the "deluxe" version), there has never been to my knowledge any released arcade game bearing the title Beatmania II. The first style of the second Beatmania series clearly says Beatmania IIDX on the title screen. You say the 6th Style tatsujin videos are performed on a BMII machine, but then what would differentiate a BMII machine from a IIDX? Why would the LOSS of the headphone jack make something "deluxe"? Can you provide any evidence showing the existance of a game called Beatmania II, and I mean other than a "friend in Japan" saying he saw the game once after stumbling into a game center after a drinking party or something. From DarkTetsuya's FAQ:

Quote:
Why do some generic videos only say "beatmania II"?
See above for part of the answer. Because of the game's 'deluxe' cabinet, they decided to add the DX part to the title. But why it doesn't appear in the game aside from the logo appearances, I don't know. My guess is they originally designed a 'normal' beatmania II cabinet and a 'deluxe' model cabinet...
Yes, they may have ORIGINALLY designed a Beatmania II machine, as in a prototype model, which I'm guessing would be similar in size and appearance to a Beatmania or Beatmania III machine, but I'd say there's a really good chance it never saw the light of day, probably because the 7 key columns and videos on a normal Beatmania monitor would have been too squished and hard to read.

While using Google Image search, I came across a Beatmania II machine. It has no LED marquee or stage.

Weird. Can you provide a link to that image?

Also, I know for a fact that the arcade in Osaka that Pong spoke of has not only a stage and a LED marquis for their 8th (probably 9th now) Style machine, but also a headphone jack, since I was there with him. Maybe there is a headphone jack on the machine but it's difficult to access easily?

Well I'll be. There IS such a thing as a BMII machine, according to Channelbeat. Guess they've all phased out here in Japan now, becasue I've NEVER seen one in person riiight.gif

Should our arcade stay at 8th and wait for a fix to 9th Style's button problem, or upgrade now?

Basically what I'm asking, "is the off-sync problem so bad that i'm not going to be able to AA anything on 9th if i play 90% of my games at home, and 10% at the arcade?"

uhhh, I played 9th Style at AI, and I got 2 AA's and 2 A's the first time I played... on tough songs that I can not always do that on 7th & 8th.... and a couple of the guys that were there were AAAing everything they played ... and it was their first time playing 9th.... I doubt its a problem for 9th in general... its probaly just something wrong with your machine

Last time I heard, AI turned off their extra stage, which limits you to 3 songs. How did you manage to get 4 grades in one game without extra?

DrBeatmania then wrote:

What songs were these that you did good on, Mr. Ignorance? Who were these people that AAA'ed everything they played their first try? I only know of a few people who can do things like that, and it's not their first time playing it. If you had talked to them they most likely would've told you that they could've done anything they played better if the timing were like 8th's.

Something wrong with the machine? Please. I would believe that if there was not a Japanese petition online with over 750 signatures complaining about the timing. Is every machine with 9th style magically dumb but AI's? No. Because the people that play there KNOW it's different.
