Is it possible to mod a cheapo pad to last a long time and work well? I've read about many techniques in modding pads and it seems that quite a few work for some but not for all. So if I was to buy two cheapo pads from cyphergames and mod them, what would be the best way to do so in order to increase their lifespan? I've had three cyphergames dx pads and they were great until all three of them just sort of died 6 months or so later... Any recommendations for mods that work well for many people on cheapo pads would be much appreciated. In my opinion, a year would be a good amount of time (I have high hopes for modding cheapo pads).

a YEAR? laugh.gif

I doubt any cheap-o soft pad would last more than 7 months modded
and 4-6 UNmodded...this is with no "extreme" play added in ether but here's a mod i've done, lasted 6 months: [urlhttp://www.extremespin.com/tommy/ddr/[/url]

my experiences with cheap-o soft pads and mods hasnt been good ( the pad died in 6 monthes, which isnt too bad for a $12 pad), so im buying a metal pad for $120... (well $165, with the shipping)

(on a sidenote: Hey looky there! theres a thread that ONLY talks about soft pads, and how to mod them, etc! http://www.ddrfreak.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=49672&start=0)

I dissagree. I went a year with MadCatz pads and they worked like new. Well not like new but they were in AA condition. And this is coming from a player who played maybe 5 times a week for and hour or 2 all of those days. On 7-9 foot maniac songs of course. Then i got smart and bought BNS-DX pads (www.buynshop.com)

Depends on which kind of pad you have. If you have the imitation ignition pads, I've found that you can make a 1/2 inch plywood insert for it, so it works on carpet really well.
