It's aerobic exercise.
And what "ack" said. Who cares about how many calories you're burning, or the fact that you're burning them? As long as you're having fun, that should really be the name of the game... _________________

Hmmmmmmm It's a sad reality that most people do NOT think along those lines. It seems like everyone is taking a road of spending countless dollars at a gym, which brings me to question. If you were to spend a total amount of dollars at DDR, would the amount succumb to the total of a gym membership? _________________

At school, we have to jog for 30 minutes...once a month. Measly, yet we still dread it. Now, at home, I turn AutoPlay on on StepMania, and step along for half an hour on Heavy. Twice as much movement, same amount of time. And I'm having fun. Err...I don't really see a point in that so I'll make one. You consider running for 20 minutes excercise, right? Well, DDR is the same thing, just stationary. So therefore, it must be excercise. _________________

Dance Dance Revolution is my favorite type of exercise. Doing 8-foot or higher songs gives you a great workout. And it's actually fun! _________________

As soon as I actually got Good at DDR (and started yammering on about the Game) my friends started doubted the fact that the game was a work out. Needless to say a quick trip to GameWorks changed their minds.

I hang with a group of friends where most of us play DDR, or at least respect the people who play it. One friend of ours was in no way convinced that DDR was a way to lose weight. He also claimed it took no skill what-so-ever, and if he actually cared he could "master it in no time". So one day he saw us playing standard at school on the home pad mats (just to have some fun with the ladies), and he was like, "Okay, I admit, I couldn't do that, and yeah, I guess it is a workout."
After hearing that, I almost wanted to kill him for his idiocy. Imagine what he would have said if I'd showed him Max Unlimited Heavy at the arcade. I meen, some people will never understand. Most people think slow and talk fast; in other words, people are f***ing hypocrites.
My proof that DDR is a workout, is that everyone I know (personally) has lost weight playing DDR. Like, substantial amounts. I've heard increadible stories over the internet of people losing anywhere from 5 pounds in a week to 80 pounds in 6 months. That right there is my proof. Anyone who denies it, is being simple minded, or just jeleous. They are jeleous that you are having fun working out, and that they aren't having fun, and they aren't losing weight. that's what it all comes down too really. |
