Question about BeatMania...

My local arcade recently got Beatmania 6th Mix and it is a fun game...but I SUCK at it. I mean I have trouble with songs with a rating of 2. I play DDR all the time on heavy and I thought that would help. Here is my question: Are you supposed to use 2 hands to hit the keys or just one for the keys and one for the disc? Thanx!

Well Beatmania wheather its IIDX or the original 5-key Beatmania (which is what you're playing) its going to be hard. If you look in the Sticky Threads about Beatmania in this forum you will see other players say how hard it is. Beatmania is not like DDR its not something you can get into and be good from the start (speaking from expeirence

) Everyone "sucks" when they first start playing but you'll get better at it later on. As for the one hand vs. two hand thing you were talking about, you're supposed to use one hand for the turntable and one hand for the keys but if you're more comfortable using two hands then go ahead. Just keep practicing and you'll get better at it. I would suggest getting a modded ps1 or ps2 so you could play Beatmania 6th Mix at home or even start playing IIDX. Yeah, I'm horrible at Beatmania. There is a 4th Mix in NJ where I play and I can BARELY do 2 disc songs. But just practice on one song, once you get the hang of it you'll get the hang of the rest, at least I THINK I am.

I didn't think Beatmania was too hard, but maybe I was on an easy mix or something. My friend and I were at a lockin where all the machines were on freeplay, and one of the games they had was BM Club Hits MX (or something like that). It looked like an older mix, but by the end of the night we could pass all songs on all difficulties. I think the hardest was 321 Stars, or something like that.
