Thanks a bunch.
How hard is it to swap the discs? Does it take lotsa of rewiring or do I just open the machine, put 'em in, and reboot? _________________

I would only guess it takes a disc swap and a reboot. But don't rely on that. I don't own a machine, I just ASSUME that.
But you know what happens when I ASSUME something and then it's wrong.. I make an A-S-S out of U and ME |

Few questions.
How good is the home pad for the PC version of Pump It Up?
Is the PC version any decent?
Is there only one PIU home "mix"?
Thanks. _________________

The pads are incredibly durable and high quality. They *are expensive, but they will last. They still need some securing on a hard floor to keep from sliding around.
The best deal around is from http://www.pumpitupdance.com/buy.html
who has a Perfect Collection game plus original game and 2 dance pads for $149.95 plus $20 shipping.
Perfect collection has a ton of songs, and there is a patch that can be downloaded which turns the game into the PREMIERE PLUS version. Highly recommended that you take that route for your home Pump experience. |

The discs requiring a chip to install would be bootlegs, I believe. From what I understand, the chip is a security chip that allows the machine to play the copied cd. I'm currently exploring the whole pump upgrade process, but I too am finding it difficult in finding if it's just a quick disc swap or what. It's hard enough finding upgrades for a decent price. |

The dude who I'm getting it from says that the machine can hold up to 5 discs at a time, and you can switch between them somehow.
I don't understand this, but I'll find out when it gits here, I guess. _________________

I think I just may pick up that PIU home kit as soon as I start to work. It looks super awesome.
I finally beat Turkey March with a B after 1 try. That song is so fun, it sucks they took it out of Premiere 3. Oh well, I'll just go play "Bambole" and "Burning Krypt" some more, lol.
Does anyone know where I can get a complete song list for Premiere 3? I would like to get all the songs on the simulator so I can practice the steps a bit. |

You might have the Spanish version of Kick it Up, in which the song folder must be renamed 'musicas'.
Also, make sure that inside your individual song folders, there is not yet another folder inside. It must be the files. A lot of times you will unzip a song file, only to find that there is another folder inside before you reach the actual files. (confusing, no?)
So it look like this: Songs --> Beethoven Virus --> hard.ksf, etc.
and NOT like this:
Songs --> Beethoven Virus --> Beethoven Virus --> hard.ksf, etc. |

I got to try PIU today for the first time on a Primier 3 machine. I played for $10 worth at $.50 each. By the end of the day, I was up to 8s on Hard and 7s on Crazy. The hardest song I could probably pass is Winter on Hard.
It's really fun, and the backgrounds are great. I almost think I like it more than DDR. |

It's cool that your first PIU experience was Premiere 3. Most 1st timers try PIU on the older mixes that have more songs, but the interface, and overall look is quite crappy and turns people off at times. Premiere 3 is very flashy and VERY cool to switch to Double mode on the same credit.
Hey DJXeroic, I have KIU available for download on my personal site:
http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/[email protected]/lst?.dir=/files&.view=l
You also need to download a skin, and I have my 'Prex 2' skin there also. Total download is about 6MB. I also have 2 songs there.
If that fails and KIU just won't run on your PC, you can always get Stepmania with Pump support. www.stepmania.com |

One thing I noticed is that twisting is really hard. I can do it, but I just end up backwards a lot of the time.
Also, there's some song about monkeys or something on there that has this really strange freeze in the middle and you have to hit every note around it (this was Hard difficulty). I don't see how it's even possible. |

Those are the hold steps that were seen in the 'Extra' version that came out just before DDRMax.
The Monkey Magic spin is easy, you just keep one foot in the center, and spin clockwise or counterclockwise hitting the steps with your other foot.. Pierrot has one of those also.
It's a shame Pump doesn't use their hold steps the way DDRmax does. If you ever get to play the Prex or Prex 2 versions, you will see much more usage of hold steps. |

Hmm, oh well, it was still fun. Looked a lot more like dancing and less like foot shuffling, especially on songs like Love is a Danger Zone. |

If you already have Stepmania with Pump installed, just unzip these songs into their own folder, and then move this folder into the SONGS folder on the Stepmania files.
That should be it.
The same way you 'install' songs on Kick it Up |
