If you are mod-chipping a newer PSX, just buy a GameShark CDX for your newer PSX/PSOne. You will need antimod codes to run DDR games, or if you find ther patch, patch it instead to block the copy protection. _________________

There are some universal converters fot the PS2, but they are crap. Get a modchip.
A GS is a GameShark
A Mod-chip is a small computer chip that has to be soldered onto the motherboard of a console(in this case, a PS2) that gets by the riogon lockout and copy protection.
Yes. Theres the fliptop cover, and the rather risky slide-card mod. _________________

also, is the universal convertor for PSOne ok? is all i need to do is plug it in and it will run jp games?

It['s ok, but the "converter" will sometimes need to use antimod codes to boot protected games. _________________

You can find most of the antimod codes for DDR games in the first post of this thread. _________________

I've havent heard of any hiccups with the PS-X-Change 2. As long as you provide antimod codes for mod protected games, you're in business. But it does get annoying to put in codes every time you want to play a mod protected game.
The newer modchips for the PSX have Stealth technology, but SOME games still need antimod codes.
If you have the I/O port(long retangular port on the back of your PSX), get a run of the mill plugmod, notable the Game Enhancer or Game Hunter Pro. You can save all of your codes to it, and it has an awesome success rate. _________________

My friend has a boot disc but it does not say PS-X-Change 2 on the cover, instead it says GAME PLAYER ver. 2 Is this the same thing. Also he can play 5th mix without any anti-modchip codes. This is the Game Player Version 2: http://store.yahoo.com/walloffame/gamplayverdi.html Where can I buy a new PS-X-Change 2? RO used to sell them, but they suddenly stopped.

It's brand new, and yes, it works on a PSX. Level Six is out of stock on PS-X-Change 2's. Besides, they take forever to ship items out anyway. _________________

Okay I have a question about 5th mix's Support 4th mix thing in the Memory Card option. I cant read japanese so I dont know what they're asking when I choose it. Does it unlock songs from 4th mix and become playable for game mode? Do you need 4th mix memory on your memory card for it to work? Because I do. I just press O for "yes" for everything it asks me, but nothing happens. Help pleaase! Thanks in advance. _________________

When you choose to save support data, just choose yes, and it will save OVER your current 4th Mix data, and all songs and challenge courses will be unlocked. Be careful, your scores might be erased. It happend to my Extra Mix, but oddly enough, my 4th Mix scores survived. _________________

Ohh I get it now. I thought what you meant by "fully unlock 4th mix" is 4th songs could be unlocked on 5th. Dummy me .
But now I want to buy a new mix for my PSX. I've narrowed it down to two versions:3rd or 4th. At first I wanted to get 3rd because there are no more 3rd mixes in our arcades here and there were alot of good old songs on there. But then I thought of 4th mix, and all my fave Dancemania Speed songs are on there. Also, I played 4th mix at my friends house with my memory card inserted in his PSX so I unlocked everything on that mix. So which do you think is a better buy? I wanted to post this as a new topic, but I was afraid it would get locked. _________________

Well, this is a tuffy. I consider 3rd anf 4th to be equally as fun. While 3rd houses some of the best oldies you can hear and play too along with Club mix support, 4th also has some nice songs, and a (somewhat) great interface, along with all the challenges.
It's really hard to put a finger on. If you can, I reccomend you buy both. If you cant, I'ts a 50/50, because you'll be happy with whichever you buy. _________________
