19 greats on Matsuri Japan is not insane... I believe I've gotten down to at least 15 before at the arcade. Matsuri Japan is probably the easiest 9-foot... ever. And, yeah... I say I suck after every run, even if I get in SDG range. It's realistic... people do it... so, what's the problem? _________________

Hmmm... never thought of it like that. Yeah, I guess I do put some pretty unrealistic expectations for myself with DDR... I guess I just compare myself to people that can AA every song ever created at the arcade... and I still can't beat Paranoia Survivor Max Heavy OR Oni (I die at the crazy end 8th note runs on both). I should probably be a little easier on myself and not rip myself to shreds so much on my DDR skill (or lack there of)... but, I can't help it.
None the less... people still think like this... so it's not an ill portrayal of human behavior. _________________

I've been thinking of it as a sports doujinshi from the beginning, which is one of the best ways I didn't think of for creating a DDR-based story.
Now all we need is a chapter where the teams all go to some secluded place and prepare for some "SPECIAL TRAINING!!"
Just picture the montage: Dyna and Ninja training on a Max2 machine on a rock while waves crash around them! Cyber meditates on the top of a mountain as Pict does radio exercises! Hana/Candy/LoveMagic onsen scene! Cowboy on a ten-mile jog! Chaser cooking breakfast! Hana/Candy/LoveMagic onsen scene! Nana and Yukon running around with pots and pans, waking everyone up! Hana/Candy/LoveMagic onsen scene! Osaka coming in with a carving knife to wake Yukari-sensei! And then a Hana/Candy/LoveMagic onsen scene, to spice things up.
I think I need to lay off the coffee. _________________

HA HA HA HA HA!
That's awesome! I'll definitely have to add some of that... but Yukari-sensei too?? In case they want to study the ancient game of Go to improve their perfects I guess...
and yeah, I've got some... let's say random sketches in my book... one day maybe I'll scan them all. but then you'll all be scared!
BTW, pie, I'm glad you like my comic but dude, even *I* can get under 20 Greats on Matsuri Japan... (on my homepad-- in the arcade I average about 32. I like that song too) Dynamite hasn't even BEGUN to get ridiculous yet
oh yeah, and Saiyajin, I'm kinda glad you broke down and looked at it anyway, because even after this weeks' update there's still some more of chapter 2 to go... I SOO wish I could draw it all faster but if you didn't look back before then, you might forget all about it _________________

Makoto: haha... Yeah, who can resist?
Just wondering... but have you ever thought about putting IIDX in the comic for some extra humor or something? Like, having Dyna meet up with Lisu or AGOP and totally get burned? haha... that would be kinda funny. Or have AGOP or Lisu try DDR and totally die on like... Beginner Butterfly. Or maybe... a IIDX side story. Though, IIDX is so much less "cool" to watch... unless you look at the screen. Then it's just crazy that some people can actually hit all those notes. (Can you tell that I've been playing IIDX a lot lately? Heh heh heh...) Seriously though, if I had money... and a DDR machine nearby, I'd be going crazy on that instead... ;_;
Averaging that low on Matsuri Japan is quite good. While I have scored very low on it before... I tend to have lots of "off days"... some when I can't even AA Healing Vision Angelic Mix or So Deep (which are like... my songs). That... plus the arcade pads I play on are usually craptastic... blah... Give me a good arcade machine, lots of sleep, and a good breakfast... and that's when I'll make my scores. Last time I played I got 394 perfects, 93 greats, 3 goods, and 10 misses on Legend of Max 1.5x reverse... and it was only a B! >.< (like 87,000,000 points with a max combo of 320-some... killed my high score, but that's way high points for a B). Piece of crap... I need to take some lessons or something... ;_; Hang out with Yasu for a week... destroy the Michigan competition... Then get good enough to become a character in your comic... Hehehehe... *wishful thinking* _________________

Yes, you certainly done a good JAWRB indeed! And I think Mr. McConville admires your style:

See? Not only does the artist of MacHall admire you, he compares you to Penny-Arcade and Megatokyo? How cool is that? _________________

YAHOO! That's so exciting! Penny Arcade and MegaTokyo are both SOOO huge too... I feel like such a n00b, but that'll make me work harder, na?
I noticed that Ian at MacHall linked to 10K this morning! He's one of my inspirations to make a comic because his art, inking and painting skills have improved SOO much since he started Mac Hall! I looove his ink brush and paint technique now so I hope if I draw every week like he does, I'll improve my sketch/paint techniques too-- yosh! gambare ore!
I'd love to make this story an animated TV show or OAV series one day because we all know that the point of DDR is MOVING! I always imagine what how they dance and you can imagine it too, but how cool would it be to actualy WATCH them dance! (I'll do that when I'm all grown up, rich and can tell Studio Pierrot exactly how I want it done... mwa ha ha )
okay, my new favorite character to draw is David. He's like the opposite of Dynamite because he's so reserved and doesn't open his mouth very wide... so more to come-- with hopefully better colors (i like how the sunset/afternoon scene worked out but the night time and the part in Scott and David's dorm room was a little too bleh...)
ha ha, Kel-- glad you weren't creeped out by Chaser either... a boy asking about underwear might seem weird but it's not what he says, but how he says it.
okay, back to the drawing board! _________________

DJ_Dustbuster wrote: | ...Makoto my little brother had a question about Japan and clothing. He had asked me if like in Anime the girls skirts were really that short in real life or was that artist creativity... |
It depends on where you are. schools have different uniforms and some are really short but other are not. But all girls uniforms are always skirts... girls aren't allowed to wear pants to jhs or hs.
I guess it also depends on what anime he's watching. if you mean like Cardcaptor Sakura or Sailor Moon-- that's some artistic license... skirts are not usually that short. But anime like Digimon Adventure or Kareshi Kanojo no Jishou-- that's about how kids really have to dress for school.
And thanks Mouse, that's really nice to hear. Since Ian linked to me, that's opened my art up to a LOT of people who don't like DDR and I've started getting bad comments and rude emails again. Oh well, it's what I get for publishing my work. But I'll try to block everything else and just keep drawing until this is finished. _________________
