Siv- just change all the links to www.ddrei.com/forums since that seems to bring you to the updated version and not the "twilight zone"... |

I'm looking forward to burly brawl as well...matrix reloaded songs = goodness. I downloaded a dwi for chateau today that was pretty good. Hopefully the entries in tm4 are as good or better.
I think the hardest thing in the judging of the songs is probably the barrier between the pad friendly songs and the non-pad friendly songs. Some people make files with nice patterns and rhythms for feet, but may not be the most fun thing on fingers. And some people make something that's really fun on fingers, but totally impractical on foot. It's hard to get equal appreciation for both types. _________________

Thats why people include a "read me" file with the dwi, they state there the "correct" way of playing the dwi. It would be unfair to judge a file by playing it on keyboard when the creator says that its more fun (or makes more sense) on feet.
I'm entering TM4, I won't reveal the name of my entry right now (but I heard that Sivus will post a list of the people who are entering, and the name of their entries), I entered TM1 with "Sobakasu" (it was my first dwi... it sucked, of course) and TM3 with "Rhythm and police Hyper K Mix" (the one without lyrics, kinda good dwi but it should have been a lot better, it was VERY rushed). I'm sure that this time people will enjoy my dwi, I put a lot of time and effort into it. |

but the thing is, a lot of people have a preference (see:favorite dwi thread) and most of the time, one type suffers. _________________

I try that, too. I got thru the steps with my fingers and try to alternate L-R. When they don't alternate, I try to imagine the steps and make sure it's not an awkward twist or shuffle. You sometimes want a shuffle or even an odd transition if the BPM is low enough.
So I recently tried my edits on a pad. Not only were they possible, but my technique worked. However, as with all plans, there's always one or two things that seem fine on paper but are too hard to do. I call these little errors "DDR Extreme" steps, because the new steps on DDREX smack of not being playtested very well. _________________

The end just requires a skill of turning 180 and back. It's seen at slow speed in Silent Hill remix, and fast speed in Brilliant 2U Orchestra Groove oni steps. |

*bump and stick*
Tournamix 4 starts tomorrow, and with it right around the corner I expect much discussion about it. I am stickying this as if it was a tournament. And we destickify when it is concluded. _________________

Unfortunate Update: Sivus posted tonight that TM4 will not be able to start on time because of some uncooperative servers it seems. TM4 will start either late Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. _________________

The latest from Sivus is that the files should be available tonight. That's all I got. _________________

Umm...DDRManiaX did actually mention the delay of TM4. The reason we haven't said anything about DDRei being down is...because it isn't? It's working just fine for me, has all day. BemaniStyle (along with BemaniSims) has been up and down the past few days. DoS attack is the best I can assume (someone told me they had been hacked, so that makes the most sense). We're currently working on getting the files for the first bracket up somewhere. If all goes well, we should be able to get them up tonight. |

Another update.
TournaMix has begun at ddrei.com.
I have already played all of the dwis. Except for one giving me whole bunch of errors (Arrows start and the announcer says go, 10 seconds after, as soon as that happens. I fail)
Catch you, Catch me is my favorite from this set.
And it's surprising to see how many songs have a BPM change in them. Just something I noticed.
Edit: seems like I didn't received the whole thing. And my entry is in the first pack. See if you can figure out which one (not like it is that hard to find out). Catch you, Catch me is still my favorite (besides mine). _________________

We had some problems uploading the packs, so there was a brief period when downloads were down. Chances are you downloaded while it was uploading (a mistake I made in naming files). If any of you downloaded from the DDRei server right after the links were released (meaning within the first 30 or so minutes), I suggest you go re-download the pack, as there might be errors in the one you have. |
