When I'm having a bad day, I head out to the arcade and play DDR.

Hard.

I really feel like DDR has kept me out of trouble and off of the many bad things that I could be doing instead. For those few moments when I'm out breath and feel like I'm going to die...at least it's not because of random drama.

Anyone else use DDR as therapy?

Actually on the contrary, DDR gets me very frustrated. Like when I was trying to AAA V oni and got greats on parts I usually perfect easily, I get really pissed. And I also get pissed when hecklers mess me up when I'm playing.

I use it somewhat as therpy, whenever me or my brother are having a particurally bad day, can always take a trip to arcade [or just play at home] to play DDR and it usually cheers us up. DOnt really play to be great but just play to have fun, so by end of playing feel better ;p

Yes. I have used DDR as a form of stress relief. I think it is a lot better than me getting in my car and driving like an @$$ just so I can blow off some anger. (It's bad for me, the people around me, and the car). If I do drive to the arcade I try and let out my anger on the pad by doing some insane songs and not on U.S. 19. Just my thoughts. Of course there really is nothing like being pist off and flying down the highway but I really don't suggest that, it's dangerous and speeding tickets suck. riiight.gif

I think most of us feel the same way, when we are mad/sad/confused we go to our arcadeand let out our problems on the DDR machine.

Usually whenever I go to the arcade I am in a good mood, but sometimes I am mad and don't even feel like playing but I do anyways.

I usually do a lot better when I am mad though, but that is just me.

When I was volunteering with some mentally ill kids last year, I brought in my Ignition pad, my PS2, and DDRmax. They absolutely loved the game, and their caretakers called it excellent therapy. Since they had ADHD they didn't usually pay attention to something so long, but with DDR they really tried their hardest. It was a great way to kill stress and energy and to teach them how to focus.

So for them, DDR was real therapy. E1.gif

i guess i use DDR to releif stress too. I always get mad at my brother and always feel like punching him. Of course i always think of the consequesces (no ddr, no computer, no tv) and hold back my anger. Then i go play ddr and its like i've punched my brother for 2 hours straight. It feels so much better.

I think it can be therapy, it does help me by allowing me to get away from the crap of life. I think all Bemani really helps me and not just DDR. I think IIDX helps me the most, I just love the music.

I like it because it drowns out people telling me to do stuff. It also lets me show off to my older brother wo thinks he's better than me. (He gives up on 4-footers -- he thinks they're too hard) laugh.gif

DDR is great therapy! Whenever I feel like smacking someone around, I just play DDR, bust some 8 footers without taking breaks, then I'm just too tired to be violent. E4.gif

Yeah, sometimes I use DDR as a way to relieve my stress and not think of all the negative things that go on in the world.

Hmmmmmmm DDR as therapy? After I've had a bad day? Nothing really cheers me up except time. For a guy I'm very VERY emotional and lots of things dont really make me calm down...when I get mad DDR may clear my mind. Probably the only thing that would drag me down would be girl trouble. But jessica and I are really happy right now Though I dont get to see her this weekend. frown.gif

Oh well...DDR is probably not the best thing for me. I usually write poetry or play Tekken 4. Or talk to my baby couple.gif She always cheers me up! Or just do manual labor. That tends to take my mind off things. DDR again isn't a good thing for me. My PA is way off because I'm thinking too much and eventually my game begins to break down a whole lot.

I have used DDR as a stress reliever... now its just too far away for me to drive whenever I get upset. But, if I've been having a bad day, or I'm sad or upset, and I get the chance to go play DDR, I do use it as a stress reliever. I'll admit though, it DOES kinda get annoying when there's other people there playing, too... especially since most of them are better than me... but I try to deal with that on the DDR pad as well. It's a trifle annoying when people half my age can do heavy songs like it were nothing while I flounder mightily on standard

DDR is just a way to relax for me from my job (where we're still adjusting to the layoffs from three months ago), almost like my 15-20 minutes of exercise which I need anyway. I'm sure these kids think I'm a completely incompetent player but the need to burn stress usually leaves me walking away from the machine fairly happy - barring miserable failure - versus someone who gets upset because they were one great away from a AAA.

DDR makes me calm.. as well as sweaty.. the closest machine to me is 15 miles away, and I can't drive frust.gif but, I drag my parents to the arcade every single day riiight.gif I use DDR as my PE, because I'm homeschooled.. I've also successfully lost 20+ pounds on the DDR diet.. eh. that's not much.
