Challenge Mode. You need a high score to access the EX songlist. Playing one song on EX will unlock it in Free Play. |

How much did the buttons cost and where did you get them? I wanted to do this just just for the regular PSX with an old PSX cotroller(No analog). |

Yeah, they're a little loose so don't worry about it. As far as EX mode goes, as stated earlier, the only way you can play an EX song is to get above 120 (or was it 125, help me out someone) points in challenge mode. Each song has a point value. Take that point value and add to it the value of the two challenges you picked and that is your total amount of points if you pass the song and pass the challenges. After 3 songs, if your 3 song point total is more that 120 (or 125, can't remember), you'll get to play a song on EX mode. Not all songs have an EX. If you play a song on EX then you can play it in Free Mode whenever you want, regardless if you passed it the first time or not. If you want to play a song on EX mode in Arcade Mode, you can only do so by getting enough points to do so.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Dammit. Apparently the USPS tried to deliver my PNM Best Hits to my house on Friday and they didn't bother to leave a note or anything, so I'll probably have to go pick it up at the post office tomorrow...
Edit> Oh god. It was in the mail and was at my house since last night and my mom didn't tell me.
My current opinion of Pop'n Music right now:
A lot of the stuff is hard as balls, but IIDX is still more difficult, and better.
Now I understand what everyone says when they say "You can't understand pop'n music songs until you play the game." It's true, I guess. There's a lot of songs on there that I like, although there's a few bad ones, and a large amount of mediocre ones.
The whole "refer to song by genre" thing still pisses me off.
But overall, it's really fun. Even though it's just button smash without an musical gimmick (playing an instrument/dancing/DJing), it manages to still be fun to play. The controller is taking some getting used to because it's so sensitive, and I end up getting a lot of Bads because I press buttons accidentally.
Edit2> I caught onto it really fast. I've full-greated several songs on Standard, and I can pass 80% of songs on Hyper. I have been a few bars away from passing Daikenkai Hyper and Foundation of our Love (Trance) Hyper. Now I'm just making my way through Best Hits mode and unlocking all the songs.
Within the first two hours of playing pop'n music, I managed to pass Lupin III EX, Digi Pop EX, and one other EX song that I forgot.
And how the hell do you access Challenge mode? I can't find it anywhere. _________________

I don't believe there's a Challenge Mode in Best Hits. _________________

Taken from the Magicbox:
"Konami announced they will release a new PlayStation 2 online puzzle game called Pop n' Puzzle Online in Japan this summer. The game feature characters from the popular music game Pop n' Music, and the gameplay is similar to Sega's Puyo Puyo. A beta test of the game will begin in June."
WORD WORD WORD! Puyo Pop'n! This is so hot!
Here are some images, DROOL:
We have Pop'n Music 8 and Puyo Pop'n online coming soon. Looks like I'll need to buy a japanese network adapter. |

Forget the wiring! Where did you get the buttons for under $100? Happ has them for $25 a piece! |

Well, I'm looking into giving Pop N' Music a try. Just a few questions:
What is the best PNM game for the PSX and PS2?
How big is the official controller? (Size comparison, if you can.)
Whats it's learning curve?
Thanks. _________________
