I can A every song in heavy on Max2(w/ a few exceptions)but I cant fricken beat the Max's. I can combo the first 150+ beats of 300, then i die. For all you people who beat Max300 , how do you build up your stamina to that level? :baffled: :baffled: :baffled:

Not really. A lot of people can pass those songs. Few people, however, can do well on them.

I'm working on building up enough stamina for MAX 300. Here's what I'm doing. (I play DDR Extreme in the arcade.)

1) Play lots of Random songs (or Roulette, if you're not on DDREX). The unexpected is almost always more tiring than the expected.
2) As your last song, play something very stamina-draining and fast. On DDREX, I use PARANOiA Survivor. (I can pretty reliably pass it now! Woo!) On DDRMAX2, I'd use MAX 300 (I can't come close to passing it though.). Don't expect to pass, just push yourself as far as you can.
3) Rest and repeat.

My stamina has gotten a lot better ever since I started doing this.

I know how you feel man. I used to think I'd never pass it but now I have at home. (not on a machine though disgust.gif but i figure that's only because we don't have one here so I don't get the practice I need on one) It just takes lots of practice man. Just keep doing the song. Over
and over
and over
and over
rinse
wash
repeat

The jump from 9 footer to 10 is way bigger than one foot would lead you to believe. Don't get discouraged.

Yes. Yes you do. To get to the nine-footer level, you pretty much have to play at least two or three times a week for a year, or everyday for about four months. That's pretty obsessed right there. Getting a's on nine-footers takes about another month or two, I'd say. You've pretty much have to be a freak in my book if you play that long/much. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

But yes, practice makes perfect. (no pun intended, which reminds me of a stupid joke, but this is neither the time or the place). Just keep working at it. Also, do it like 8 times in a row. That's the quickest way to build up the stamina.

you're kidding, right? Okay, I played everyday (home version 3rd mix) for a month. Then I weened myself off the home pad and on to the arcade unit (still not knowing any ssr/maniac comfortably) and played once every two weeks for about 5 months...I was at 9 footer level by then, and that was gradually going up a couple feet at a time. AAing (or in this case, SSing) a 9 footer came another month away, not A's...point I'm making is, it's different for everyone. Someone learned faster than me, someone is learning slower than I did. Everyone progresses differently.

Max 300 is a matter of stamina over all else. If you can recognize the generic patterns there (not much guess work, no twists, double-steps, etc.) then it's just a matter of being able to keep up E13.gif

In the grand scheme of things, yes. My brother's exact term was "freak" the first time he saw me play (a few months ago).

If you're a decently dedicated player, though, Max300 should come pretty quickly depending on how much talent you have.

You sure do have to be a freak to do the Maxes. The amount of physical AND mental stamina is ridiculous. I can only stay "geeked up" for about 30 seconds, and then get tired of looking at the triple steps, the adrenaline vanishes, and the bar just drops.

Although, a friend sent me a MAX 300 strategy guide, and after reading it I improved a full grade (to an A) and about 50 perfects (on the controller). But again that is with TOTAL concentration.

Besides...this is DDRFREAK is it not? E13.gif

Well I'm not a freak and I'm working on A'ing and AA'ing the Maxes. I get a few misses and I'm dropped down to an A despite what my combo is, etc. Pretty crappy.

But stamina wise, to me JI'm blessed to be very involved in physical activities.

-Running (4 Miles) every other day around the Mall center. (2 Miles each lap)

-Breakdancing (Upperbody), legs, respiratory.

-Martial Arts (Mind)

just get involved in some other activities. I'd advise you to go running once every other day. That really helps.

Not for me. I bagged my first nine, Dynamite Rave, in two months. I've been playing for close to a year now, and the only cata I have any major trouble with is Cartoon Heroes. I've at least B'ed any other cata, except Orion Civ Mix (Only played it once), and I can handle most of the 10's I've played quite easily.

As far as MAX300 and Unlimited are concerned, just practice, keep trying, and eventually you'll get lucky once or twice and get it the first time. 300 took me about fifty tries before I got it, and I scored an A on it last night (with substantial bar rapage). If you need it, use the bar; it'll be less tiring, and the leverage helps you move quicker. This is good for 300, but it doesn't help me as much with Unlimited. You'll probably find something that works, just finding it is the real trick.

go back and play a few hard fast songs on sudden shuffle. that will help you react quicker and drain less stamina.

Well, Hockeyhairman, I bet you played at least once every day or two. And some people are naturally better than others. I was estimating a gross average of players I'd seen over my nine months of play time.

Anyway, I played Maxx for the first time ever today. Fell flat on my face, figuratively, unlike the first tim I played DDR, after 12-15 seconds. I thought I'd do better after doing stepmania so many times. Oh well.

Not neccessarily, I feel outta shape in a way cause I get tired faster than I normal would but I am getting better at Max 300 each time. The series of URU and LDL really kill me having to hit them fast. If you have the stamina and speed it's possible. If I can get halfway where the freezes are, I'll be satisifed for now until I can really pass it! biggrin.gif

Whoa...2 weeks after I stopped playing at home I was comboing/AA'ing 9-footers...I guess I'm a freak...Anyways,on the Maxes, use the bar unless you can tolerate them without it...I can,but I save alot of stamina with the bar...Anyways,if you REALLY wanna pass a Max,play em as 1st song of the entire day, that way you can warm up and be ready for the next songs...Unless you fail, but if you do,don't worry...I remember when I first passed MaxX Unlimited...Some kid was trying to play it on Heavy at the arcade,he fails,I scream "This is how you PLAY IT!!!!",then I own the crap out of it...Yay me.

Th Max's aren't as hard as you think. Max300 came really easy to me, but what I did was basically everyday go to training mode and decreas the speed and play at each level everytime. I can A Max300 now thanks to that and still every day I go back to training mode. Personally I think Maxx Unlimited is much easier because Max300 is fast with steps every where which tires you out quickly but Unlimited is more spread out. I think it's extremely hard to do the max's frequently on a soft pad though it moves everywhere even taped. Damn soft pads... I got 51 greats on Midnite Blaze! That was sad... But I made it up with 18greats on silent hill and 33 greats Matsuri japan. E1.gif
