I'm surprised you can't get to that central point... that really sucks, and sorta of defeats the purpose of being able to fix it... anyways, it should be possible... if you can figure out which wires go to which buttons you could solder them to a new controller, I think the hard part would just be figuring out which wire is which. |

Well I managed to get to the "central point" kind of. Its fully encased in like plastic or rubber, I'd have to cut and hack to get to it.
I just wasn't sure if there may be more to the control circuit and that if I do end up cutting the wires and soldering them direct to a psx control board that it won't work.

okay well ive come to believe that my problem is controller related (BTW i got the MadCatz controller not sure which one but it has reset, turbo and slow buttons) i resoldered all the grounds individually so basically they aren't all just bundled and soldered once and i grounded the pad to the radiator and the screw in the outlet, unfortunately no luck (however i did have enough time to beat my first Oni Course, sure it was lesson Oni but i did FC it first try  ) anyways this makes me believe the problem has to do with the controller itself. so i am asking you guys have you ever had a problem with the MadCatz controller and which controller do you personally use? i am looking into using an official sony controller after reading the guide a member put up (BTW it looks nice  ) and also is it possible to use a Dual Shock controller? i have an extra for the PSOne so i wouldn't mind harvesting its parts to get my dancepad functioning. |

Well every button must be connected to the ground in some way. Whatever way you want to do that is up to you. |

That's odd, GT_Onizuka, I used the Mad Catz, soldered all the grounds separately and I haven't had any problems... I believe I have the same controller as you (bought it at Wal-mart for $5, it has the turbos and other things...) Do you have a continuity tester? That might help you locate your problem.
I'm going to try out this OLD pad I had lying around by Joytech... the ground is nearly the whole board, its quite funny actually. And I'm using the original offical PS controller for a friend's pad... I'll let you guys know how those turn out. |

i am kindof confused as to what you are saying, yes every button must have a ground otherwise you cannot complete a circuit! but how you are wording your question it makes it sound as thought you are wondering if you need to ground the pop'n music controller like to the screw on your outlet, if thats your question i don't really know lol. hope this retarded response helps ^^ |

i think my problem isn't the controller so im going to resolder it thanx BlueMeanie ^^ however if i mess up i'm going to get one of the original PS controllers, from what ive heard they work rather nicely |

Encountered a problem today...
Finished the pad...
Buttons work perfectly
Arrows do not respond at all...
Tested the wires and connections with a continuity tester and it works...
Anyone have any ideas?
I'm using the same mad catz a few others are using, the one with the turbo, slowmo, and reset buttons

its the mad catz controller, they suck!!!!!!
PERIOD
my first controller was a mad catz, it was soldered PERFECTLY!!!! and the right and left arrows stopped responding, the controller fried.
i have my 2 pads now soldered to an official sony controller (8 bucks used) and it works godly, i never had problems
c mon people, spend the extra money and get a sony controller!

For those of you using the official psx controller, are you guys using hot glue or drilling through the back for insulation???
I've read frisina's sony faq...
A problem i had while trying to solder the sony pad is when i heated up the copper connection it actually stuck to the end of my solder pen and came off the iron...
Also i had no luck getting my continuity tester to work on the sony pad....

yeah madcatz totally blow i finally finished my pad and i used a normal PS controller. i completely messed up the start and select buttons (thos are a pain to solder) but im using DWI anyways so it doesn't matter but i played the game for 4 hrs straight and nothing happened. however the wood i used in my frame must be really weak because some of the screw (i did riptides) that ya know act as the switch got pushed down into the wood! so im going to change the wiring system to be bluebeefmans so im curious how do i got about it? is it basically riptides with those bracket things instead of screws? how big is it etc. information on his wiring system would be greatly appreciated |

| Okay, assuming that I'm an idiot and i have no experience cutting stuff and soldering stuff...what is the realistic probability of me being able to build any of theese designs? Which one is the easiest? Is there anything that i can do that will make doing this any easier? Is there any kind of electronics shop that will do the soldering for me? |
