Thank you so much for the list. But I also need to know HOW to unlock the songs, especially those in 6th style, because that's what im working on most right now.
What are these "various things" I have to do to get the pictures for gallery mode? |

You are asking a lot with this one.
There is a big list of the unlocks somewhere, but you can unlock most of the gallery pictures by doing just what Kaleigh said earlier. Just play through Expert Courses and play lot of songs and get at least a B ranking on all the songs you clear and you will get all kinds of Gallery pictures. Some of them are by chance, and the rest are strictly through condition.
You have to have a certain percentage of Groove Gauge under Expert mode to get a lot of pictures, and there is a Gallery picture for every letter grade you recieve from C, B, A, AA, AAA. Don't be afraid of Rank Mode too, even if the top 20 most picked songs consist of flashing 7s because you were practicing them.
I think if you have 100% Groove Gauge while going through an entire expert course you get a new gallery picture on each of the following four songs too.
To get the last of the 15 Tatsujin movies, you have to clear every song in a mode, so go knock out all 69 songs in light7. _________________

Ok, I can forget getting the gallery pics for a WHILE, because I am still on beginner mode.
My MAIN QUESTION- HOW do you unlock songs in 6th style?
Thanks. |

Just play.
No special requirements, just play, outside of Free Mode. |

IIRC, you have to play in arcade mode and beat all three songs to unlock a song, until you've unlocked them all. |

Ok, I have a newbie question, couple actually...
I've been playing for a few weeks now, and just started beating some 6 star 7 key songs. I wanna move into 7 star, but not sure which songs are best to start off with. So what are some good entry level 7 star songs?I'm playing 6th style.
Second, this game is a blast, and I definately wanna get more. But I'm undecided whether to get 4th or 5th style. Which would be better for someone at my level? I think I'd enjoy the 4th songlist more, but I also heard it was much harder and I'm still learning. |

However, if you can already pass 6-stars, beginner mode probably won't be too important to you. In that case, go for the style with the songs you like more. The Strong Jaegar is also not too tough for a 7-star on 7-key. If you can do it on Light 7, you can probably do it on 7-key... but note that it's an insanely underrated 5 on Light 7.
And if you get... whichever style it is that has 250 BPM, that's also a pretty easy 7-star.
And if you're lucky enough to live near an arcade which has IIDX 7th or 8th style, my very first 7-star was Love Me Do, which I was able to pass back even before I played 2-handed or used High Speeds. _________________

And 5keys is 7keys mode with the 6 and 7 keys set to autoplay. _________________

I thought Drummania was. |
take a look at G2[a], holic[a], V[a], DXY[a], sync[a], etc etc etc. |
I just hopped in so from 8 pages ago... how about Keyboard Mania? It has 24 keys and a wheel. It's not like any of the other games where you have reasonable certainty of hitting something... unless you've got superb fingering and all which gets tricky improv like that you pretty much have no clue what you're doing Try Carrezza Real or try to pass the Impossible Pressure course on Real like doing Legend Oni on your feet...
For those who can ACTUALLY pass Legend Oni, we envy you |

Why list one hard song with four easy songs? Well, okay, one hard song and one moderately difficult song with three easy songs, if you insist ;-)

I don't think that really compares to the hard songs on IIDX, although it's pretty hard. But a certain mysterious individual known only as FUZN can pass Carezza another with a combo bonus with only two fingers. Of course, this is largely because the only two fingers that hit the keys when you're smashing the entire keyboard with the side of your arms tends to be your pinkies, but regardless, he does it with two fingers. ;-) Take that, classical piano training!

Psst. It's Legendou. And AAA'ing Sakura Another extra stage on 8th style to get Xenon is IMHO more impressive than passing legendou ;-) I think a lot more people can do the latter than the former in any case...

Easy or not, these songs will easily put out songs in other Bemani, that's for sure. I'm pretty sure if I took ten people and made them play games like DDR and IIDX, they would be clearing songs like Max300 on DDR before DXY! on IIDX. He was just mentioning the harder songs out of the really easy songs that are in the game. _________________

In 3rd Style, is there a way to have P1 have 7-key mode and P2 have 5-key mode at the same time? _________________

I'm pretty sure you can't, but if you can someone will certainly tell me otherwise. _________________

I have a couple of n00b questions too!
1) Is the IIDX controller sold on JapanVideoGames.com an official Konami one? I'll grab the URL asap, but it costs $100 and looks pretty official (seeing as it has a Konami logo on it ).. Is this a decent controller?
2) Can you use this controller to play the Beatmania games from PSX?
3) How do the difficulty levels work? Play levels?
~Thanks~ |

Yes, these are the official Konami controllers. You can find them for cheaper than $100 though, so be sure to look at some other sites before placing your order.
Quote: | 2) Can you use this controller to play the Beatmania games from PSX? |
Yes. The first five keys will work just like the 5keys in the beatmania games.
Quote: | 3) How do the difficulty levels work? Play levels? |
DDR = light/standard/heavy
IIDX = light7/7keys/Another(7) or light14/14keys/Another(14)
Difficulty ratings are based on the same star system as in the older beatmania games, ranging from 1* to 7*s. FLASHING 7*s are supposed to be the hardest difficulty songs. _________________

Well to me picking it up is a bit faster... I've been playing since May 7 and I can pass all on Light 7 and on 7 Key two 7 stars and everything 6 and under. At the end of each game my flashy great % hovers around 50. If it was DDR I'd have to hurt myself for that But iono if it's me but are flashy greats the equivalent of marvelous or inbetween Perf and marv? |

You don't have to pass the song to get it in free mode. Just play it once and don't quit without saving. Then once you've retrieved all of the songs from game mode you can just play free mode forever unless you want to enter your initials on the high score board.
After awhile I unlocked the make your own nonstop feature but I have no clue how I did it. I think it was after I unlocked every song for free mode. Apparently the nonstops in IIDX are always on power drop ( pressure mode ) just because this game isn't hard enough already. Yay. I'm at the same point in my IIDX carrer as Sindbad btw. |
