Normally I wouldn't put a post up here like this but I think this one is a little different. The first day I was able to play on a fully unlocked Extreme machine, I told everyone that I would pass Sakura. Well, to make things short, not only did I pass the oni version which I think is alot easier than the heavy version, I also passed the heavy version with a B. I was the only one there that passed it that day too out of all the people that tried it.
Also came up with another term for DDR that day. Just about everytime I would pick or any of my friends would pick Sakura, we would forget to turn off any modifiers we had on thus making it a very short song. So when it would happen with any song after it, we said you Sakura'd it. Pretty much you left the modifiers on by accident and didn't notice until right after you hit the button to choose your song. _________________

Really? you were the only person to pass sakura heavy that day? I didn't think the song was that hard. I passed it on my first try with a B and i saw many other ppl pass it their first try too. My second try i tried it as my ex stage(1.5x, reverse) and passed with a B too. I'm still trying to AA it.
But yeah, you sakura'd it doesn't really make any sense, like phrekwenci said. _________________

Me and my friends have a similar term. I was the reason we came up with it.
"You broke down!"
See, I can do "Breakdown" on light with x8, Boost, Dark, Stealth, Scroll Reverse, Turn Right. And sometimes I'll practice it out of the blue.
Then I'll pick my next song and forget to turn all those modifiers off...
Then I'm like... ... _________________

Okay...Ummm...Why turn on Dark if you have Stealth on? why turn on 8X if you have Stealth on...Why turn on Boost if you have Stealth on? Why would you do that? It makes no sense, cuz you still can't see the arrows...You're wasting your time turning all the afforementioned modifiers on. _________________

.. it's because people think that the more difficulty mods that they add on (despite their redundancy), the cooler they will look to everyone else. In fact, to those who know better -- it makes them look silly, and to those who don't know better, they can't tell because they won't be able to see the arrows anyway.
.. and for those who are confused, sakura means "cherry blossom." |

Dark makes Stealth more challenging because it's one less visual indicator on the screen - and one that shows you exactly what the beat is at any given time. Boost 8x - remember that when you miss an arrow in Stealth, it turns visible. Put those on and even when you screw up they're effectively invisible. About the only mod that would truly make no sense whatsoever would be Reverse - in conjunction with Dark *and* a speed mod. Basically, it's sprinkles on top of the icing (stealth) on top of the cake. Not much of a difference, but still a difference, and a tangible one. |

Exactly.

Dark gets rid of the stationary arrow grid while Stealth gets rid of the moving arrows.
I also note that nobody complains about the "Turn Right" _________________

Aside from Shuffle,I can do Dynamite Rave light with any modifiers, because I memorized it for a freestyle (aptly dubbed the Anti-Freestyle).
I do it on 8x Boost Sudden Reverse Dark just to be weird when I do my Anti-FS. _________________

Sure it does. It's a term to mean that you screwed up. Welcome to the world of slang.
Why bother posting if you have nothing to say abotu the topic anyway? It's pointless.
I turn on dark, reverse and shuffle on Tsugaru Heavy and then when I forget to turn them off, I refer to it as a "Tsugaru".
...I don't care what the definition of the word in English is either. Find something else to nag about. _________________

Ummm...did you even bother to read the rest of what I posted? I was commenting on the difficulty of the song, which he talked about in his original post. I just threw that last line afterwards as something extra. That line wasn't the main point of my post, which you just conveniently skipped over.
Oh, and also one guy i know almost played psm oni on 3x speed, but he managed to push the button in time to get to the options screen. _________________

That way, you don't have to worry about changing your mods whenever playing a faster/slower song. _________________

i dislike any speed mod except x1.5 that helps you see the arrows better. (bag is the only exception you can use X2 or X3 on that song only). |
