I have a no-solder modchip and some swap magic bootdisks. I know I can play backup JP games, but can I play originals? I'm getting mixed answers, but does anyone know for sure? I want to get MAX2, but I want to play it ASAP, so therefor I need a legitimate copy, so I need to know if I can play it lol. Thanks! |

Yes, I know, but the shipping to Cali would be a bitch, and I'm impatient. I saved myself some cash, and I heard from a bunch last night they do awesome jobs. |
Actually Ecko shipping to Psx-Tech cost me 12.37 no need to save up just for shipping. _________________

Since there's no modchip involved, and basically after you get it going, the PS2 thinks it's a regular game, does this method defeat all anti-mod protection (like those seen in 4th and 5th mix)? I would assume it does, but I'd just like further clafification. |
Just in case anyone missed it.... _________________

Buy the Magic 3.1
Anyway, speaking of Magic 3.1, I know you have to switch PSX/PS2 modes, but does that only apply to Imports/Backups or does that also include booting original domestic PSX/PS2 games? _________________

For originals just hold the button down for more than 5 seconds. |

Uhh, I have a Magic 3.1 and it won't play MAX2, I'm guessing on account of the DVDness. So...
1) What seems to be the problem? Can 3.1s not play DVD games? Is it bad installation?
2) Is there anyway I can solve this problem and play my game?
Any help is appreciated... I'm hoping this is the right thread to post in. |

I just thought I'd add, if it's any help...
The message I'm getting is "Can not read disc"
It's loading the game as if it thinks it's a DVD, which I guess it is... I dunno. |

Just got it working! Not sure exactly how... but I think it worked after I held the reset button for a second longer than usual (not the full four, but two or three seconds).
and the game is great! |

You must not know how to work the Magic 3.1. You should put the system in standby mode, then turn it on and put Max2 in and put the system back into standy. Then just tap the top button to turn it on instead of holding it. |

Okay, except it's worked for me everytime I hold the button for an extra second from stanby and has not ONCE worked without using this method, so I think I'm doing it right. |

It looks legitimate, but I dont know for sure. They always could send you a fake chip aside from the one pictured. _________________

Just so everyone knows, do NOT order from modchipinc.com, modchipkits.com, or that link that is posted under the Flip Top section. I ordered last wednesday night from modchipinc.com, paid 2nd day shipping, its now a week later, no packages...
Someone else has had problems too, they waited 2 weeks to get their Swap Magic discs, and they came bad, and all emails sent are not replied to. So those guys are basically screwing everyone over right now. |

So all I really need is the swap magic disks and do the card trick? From the tutorial they have on this site it looks pretty confusing and heck a long to do. Will I be able to play my japanese import games doing this trick? I would send out my ps2 to one of these installers but they all charge like over $100 to do so. |
