Actually not all PSX controllers work with the PS2. I hope that the GF controller does.

Does the Guitar Boy have the effector knob and also will it do the "wail" (forgive me if my terminology sucks, I'm new to other bemani besides ddr) and can you put a strap on it?
But this is supposed to be the most arcade realistic, right? _________________

Dont forget to use www.rinkya.com. It may be all in japanese, and it may be hatd to deal with someone overseas, but you can find tons of Bemani stuff at awesome prices. _________________

I can answer these questions:
Yes, the guitar boy does the wail perfectly (you don't have to raise it to high either like you do with the other third party controllers)
It comes with an arcade realistic strap
Yes, this is really the most arcade realistic controller (in my opinion at least).
Hope this helps.

If you want to get closer to the arcade experience and don't have the cash to buy an ASC, than get any buttons with microswitch in them, this is what makes the "click" sound in the arcade when the buttons are pressed. I looked on the site and found some light up micro-switch rectangular buttons, here they are:

Hope this helps.

I'm interested in getting Guitar Freaks and I have heard bad things about 3rd Party guitars but they are around 1/3 the price of the Konami one. Is the Konami guitar really worth getting over a 3rd party guitar? |

Well, I only played the game once in an arcade and didn't know what I was doing so I'm not really sure how I'll like the game once I get used to. I was asking because there was a Konami controller with the 1st Mix of the game on EBay and I was hoping I would get it cheap (it was going for $80 shipped with 15 minutes left) but of course it ended up at over $100 with shipping. I guess what it comes down to is a $20-$30 3rd party guitar verus the $90+ Konami one |

Um... they're built to be interchangable, although they may not look it. You can pop the key-panel out from the back and flip it around.
edit: To clockwise: Maybe you should edit that first post to say that that IIDX ASC is reversible, just to make it clear |

Are there any english (not engRish^^) guides to modding the controller?
Thanks.. |
All you have to do is eject the button cartridge and then on the bottom, there are six screws. Unscrew them and remove the bottom of the button cartridge. Then, inside there are two brass screws holding the circuit board in place, unscrew them and remove the circuit board, Then, you'll be left with just the bak of the plastic keys (leave the top cover of the button cartridge facing down at all times). Remove the rubber nubs from the bottom of the keys and use a compressed air can to just spray the inside of the keys (if you don't have one, you can just use a q-tip to rub along the inside of the key and remove all the dust). Then, put the rubber back on each key, place back the circuit board, screw the two brass screws back in, put the bottom cover of the button cartridge back on, and screw back in the six screws. Viola, your IIDX controller is now clean and ready for usage again.
