Wow, I just picked up a small Konami Pop'n controller, and I have to say.. it's a lot better than I thought it would be. It really gets the job done. I'm sure it's not arcade perfect, but that's what my ASC will be for when it arrives =D _________________

tr4il, dogg, you've got to post your instructions for making that pop'n music controller. _________________

SMBU is coming over tonight so we can take some comparison pics of the ASC vs. the smaller official controller.

My thoughts exactly. Everyone always complains about the small controller, but I like it a lot! It is ultra sensitive, and it works like a charm. I would LIKE an ASC, but this thing is fine. I don't think the transition from home to arcade will be THAT bad... hopefully. |

What do you need instructions for? Smbu just provided us with pictures so we can determine the correct measurements. Otherwise all that needs to be done is drill the holes and solder the buttons onto the correct contacts. So go out and buy the buttons... |

I remember reading a thread before that Lydia posted in saying that it is THAT bad. It sucks that nearest arcade Pop'n machine is like 5 hours from me.

I'm pretty dense when it comes to making things. It's the whole "drill the holes onto the soldering contact button" that messes me up. I have no clue how to even start; I assume I'd need a gutted Playstation controller or something. But there's no way this is getting done unless I have instructions. _________________

Fair enough, soldering to a dual-shock can be pretty annoying...
But really, if you look in the DDR At Home forum you'll find wiring instructions that are identical except for the fact that you have to do 5 more contacts for Pop'n Music (unless there is something particularly tricky about soldering the L1/R1 buttons).
Hmm, all this talk is finally motivating me...
*Goes off to order some buttons* |

Screen EX is the hardest thing I have ever seen in my life.
I wish I had the money for an ASC. It looks so great. I'm so jealous of you. |

Ok peoples, here are the comparison pics of the Pop'n arcade style controller and the regular official controller, both by Konami.
Comparison #1
Comparison #2
Comparison #3
A very happy SMBU and sad SuPa
Ok so there ya go, hopefully that helps everybody decide what they want and/or how to make one. We measured the distance between buttons, they are 1.5 inches away from each other both left/right and up/down.

Yay! I just passed Des-Reggae on Hyper HS4. Now the only thing I can't pass on Hyper is Classic 4.
Horray.
Oh, and Kyou Goki EX is the shit. |

I see that a few of you may be interested in getting a PnM ASC so here are a few links from Rinkya. GL.

Weird... Classic 4 Hyper is seeming less and less impossible as I'm getting used to the button placement. I may be able to pass it in a week or so.. *crosses his fingers*
And it's all about Invisible Lovers EX 4x hidden random mirror. _________________

Don't give up! Just place an order, and you'll be the next in line!
Anyway, I'm improving ever so slightly. I can just barely pass a couple low-star-level Hypers. And I can finally unlock EX songs. |
