Well, the most I can say about FSing is just to flow. Make your routine(s) look sharp, clean, and unique. And a definate no no move is the hand slap, you can use it once in a while... but beware, it gets old fast.

Btw just wondering, what are your favorite freestyle moves? Could be one that's easy to execute or maybe a little unusual and just plain fun to mess around with? |
i love hip-hop/uprock style but my favorite move would have to be anything airel (ex. hand stands, hopping, V-kicks, L-kick, incorperating bar alot) yeah i acually throw that crap in improv WAHOO! my best improv freestyle was to Cow Girl double Heavy Little. man it was comedy and awesome power moves as well as great flow. i was so pissed my friends camera was out of batteries from us filming these people getting in fights earlier on in the day!! oh well i got witness's _________________

My favorite freestyle moves to perform are:
Slides
Shuffling
foot-knee-handslap combo
Treadmill
Heel-toe tap (like tap dancing)
Liquid popping
Handstands
Backhand spring (only done once...and made a miss )
Apple jacks or swashtika kick
L-kick
any variations involved with a freeze (like handplant freeze)
When I freestyle, it depends on what song you play. Like you do Cowgirl, you do a galloping/square dance like moves. Stuff like Superstar, you imply hiphop steps in it. For like anything involve with techno or pop, you can do simple stuff like shuffling and slides. Overall, listen to the music and just do along with the beat. Oh yeah, check out people dancing and learn from it. |

The only freestyling I've done were just simple moves that anyone can do, yet add more to the look of your dance:
1) Instead of hitting a 1/4 beat followed by a 1/16 beat by stepping, jump in the air and land one foot earlier than the other. It's helpful on Love This Feelin'.
2) Spinning, for an example, the very end of Look to the Sky on Light.
3) Two feet per panel, you can try it on true... (Sunrise Trance Mix) Standard at the part where you have 3 jump combos 1/4 into the song.
I'd like to be able to put 3 freeze arrows side by side in edit mode so that you need to use a hand or knee. |

the first FS i ever did was BBD singles basic, but it was lame i did the first half of the song followed the arrows ended up fasing the croud and just left right left right left left right right up ... down i did full combos of the end but it was realy lame -_- i still try but the best i got is SandStorm HEV DUB i can fs soo mutch with that... only problum is i cant do that song in the arcades ... to bad.
but i am learning some fun stuff like a bar flip
When starting dubbles run away from the machene on the center2 arrows grab the bars and kick so that you spin let go and land on your feet and hands(looking like you landed on your knees.) thats kind of cool,
what i would love to see is a vid of the MATRIX walk, because i can do a Matrix fall on Era Dubbles Heavy so that i hit the last up arrow with my left hand in a arch falling motion, i goto find a way to look like i am dodging bullets when doing the middle, i would kill to do some 1 handed cartweals in the middle of that song but there is no space... _________________

Barton: haha, way to learn foundation. But hopefully you can find your own style somehow. Its cool, keep learning the stuff your learning now, but you're gonna wanna eventually get a dance style of your own. Peace.

Wow I haven't been on this forum since January...lets see whats new... I also see some nice members affected by my words of wisdom..

My my, I remember just awhile ago, I was giving you advise on a similar forum on freestylin'...not to mention us comparing B-boy styles and what not...my how much have you evolved...still have yet to see that old skool LTR routine you've told me about...(hah i dont blame you dj l3f7 3y3 if you dont remember this SN....and i still remember liustyle posting: "man, it'd be great if someone could pull off a nice poppin' lockin routine...")
BTW everybody, brooklyn uprocking on a DDR machine takes skillz and style. Trust me, if you can bust that out, it shows me how much personality and style you really have. (which is a good thing)

The surface does matter somewhat to a degree...also the shoes...but all those factors depends on whether you are learning how to do it. Taken from my "keen dance" eyes (watching too many BOA videos will get your eyes like mine) kidzero steps on the down arrows with his heels. He then smoothly slides his foot back while rolling his heel onto the flat of his foot. The trick is (and i believe this is where you mess up) is not to put too much stress on the balls of yer feet. I'm guessing that's where YOU get yer slides to be all choppy. Be light on yer feet. Make it smooth...Look in a mirror and stand to the side...do an action of one foot doing an exaggerated walking motion...notice how you slide it back to make your self look like you move while being stationary...finding that out is the key to KidZero's slides.
As for me, I haven't touched a DDR machine in 3 months...Sweet 16 cotillion practice for some chic has kept me busy...in fact a nice experience...the dance instructor's pop based moves for the modern dance has given me new ideas for improvs (such as the knee slide, and some flamboyant move thats bound to get an applause). Not to mention this thing he did with his knees and feet to make it look like a robotic movement. I'm gonna expand that knowledge more...Not limited to just b-boying and poppin and locking...
til we meet again forum...watch out for ToRRoN ver. 3.0 c[ x.O]o
