The way the ESRB is, using the right (wrong?) E-Rotic songs could be enough to get it slapped with an M. M ratings kill sales. |

an M rating would kill DDR sales. you people dont know how much the younger demographic buys this game.
older songs from 3rd mix and below i believe will not make it in the game very much. technically, we are on a 6th mix (DDR USA was a 3rd mix kinda game, Konamix was a 4th, and DDRMAX was a 5th.) I would look back to the posts about SAIFAM, and deduce that we probably will get jap liceneces to the artists on 6th with SAIFAM. Of course, us licences and exclusives are in the air.
this is MY opinion. The game is still MONTHS away, so its really not time to start speculating on a songlist yet.

A chick saying "turn me on" and a guy groaning should not get it slapped with anything but maybe a "T". Anyone been to the movies lately and seen that there's stuff just as bad in every "PG-13" movie and even some in "PG" movies. |

I know. That's sad, since Lupin the 3rd is such an awesome song. ;_;

Hehe, Information mode is cool. Too bad it took so long for us to get it.
Getting a song for failing is a way to throw people off... some people got it when they played their first song, and the people who don't fail much go "Huh!? I've played 200 songs, and I still don't have that one!"
That's part of what I liked about Max USA- more than one way to unlock songs, and some of them are pretty odd.
Quote: | it would be nice if we get some more exculsive transplants from BM, and then they release an IIDX style here, with the exclusive in there. |
I've always thought Konami had an alternate reason for putting all those Beatmania songs on our DDR games... maybe so people will be familiar with Beatmania songs, making it more likely that they'd buy a domestic release.
But that hasn't happened yet. ;_;
Quote: | The "from game" courses - From IIDX, From Solo, etc. - are HIGHLY doubtful, since the average consumer isn't "supposed" to know about them. |
However, they didn't have any problems making a "Beatmania" genre in Konamix, or keeping the name "Solo Mode" for 6 panel play.
Quote: | Anyway, there are some songs that I'm sure would never see the light of day over here on a 'K-A' rating. (Is that the rating DDR MAX got? I don't recall!) |
K-A doesn't exist anymore. It's become E (which Max got). |

This argument lacks merit. Geri Halliwell's name on albums does not push sales very well, so I suspect the same applies to DDR games. _________________

Well, MAX2 is finally comin out. Hopefully they'll be able to find more songs for use, since they've used up almost ALL the *apropriate* Konami Originals. All that's really left, is Do Me, Still In My Heart, CSFIL (Speed Mix) and some others. I hope they bring some songs back from MAX but not 2nd and 3rd Mix songs like in this mix. More like Konami Origianals featured on the MAX series but as old as 4th Mix. Like Midnite Blaze, On the Jazz, Look to the Sky (Again ), etc. I also hope we get the 4th+ Licenses, I really wanna play some Sky High, Cafe, Conga Feeling, etc. Konami SHOULD have another vote for songs featured in MAX2 and another remix poll. Also if KOA's still scrounging for songs they could use songs from Other Bemani series. (I WANT MY MOBA MOGA!!!). Hopefully we'll get some more...varied, licensed songs this time (like from more genre's). I'd like to see Moonlight Shadow, Conga Feeling, So Fabulous So Fierce, Trance de Janeiro, (insert random 4th Mix License), Boom Boom Dollar (K.O.G.G3 Mix), Flashdance (maybe), Ghosts, Bye Bye Baby Balloon, Flash in the Night, and Drifting Away. Also we BETTER get the Oni Remixes. _________________

you know what i want more than anything on this mix?
US LICENCES.
i think that the game has sold enough that it can make a break away from relying on refuse from KOJ.
DDR is japan is uncertain. some speculate that EXTREME is in fact the final mix. If the US market doesnt personalize DDR enough so it can make a mix on its own, we may find DDR in america "going down with the ship"

I couldn't have said it better. I'm new to the DDR world, with US MAX being my first experience with it, and I LOVE the US licensed songs, even if there is only a few. I also agree with what someone else said, that they were prolly testing the waters with those 5 songs, and now that MAX sold great, it would seem logical that more US licensed songs would follow in MAX2. Woohoo! I'm excited at any rate. Konami won't let us down. The game will be sweet regardless. |

i'd actually *LIKE* to see some of my favorite songs from konamix and maybe a few from disney (since i never played disney) on max2. i dont have my own konamix i just played my friends, and theres a weird thing with every pad we try (thus, its not a pad problem, its a game problem) with the left arrow not responding. we've had it happen frequently with 4 different pads, all of which work fine on my max. and konamix is just so UGLY after playing max, that i cant stand playing it. but, the majority of my favorite songs (on home versions mind you) are on konamix. so if we could get some on max2, they'd look prettier (ps1 ddr's look blocky and those damn dancers are annoying compared to the awesome backgrounds of max) and respond correctly. i'd love it.
but yeah, some more licensed songs would be sweet. i'd imagine if they could throw down an aphex twin track that would make for some VERY hard steps (anyone whos an aphex twin fan will know what im talking about). or maybe some alec empire or techno animal? hardcore DnB sh*t there or if they want club sh*t, get some Rob Gee, or Ferry Corsten, DJ Tiesto *drool*...
ugh...but i know im dreamin, what are the odds that KOA would actually come through with my dream DDR? |

You know, I was thinking... Maybe Konami would pick Dancemania songs from previous DDRs that have been popular in the states at one time or another. Okay, since I had nothing else better to do... I wrote this up. A list of some song candidates based on the fact that they would be recognizable to most of American Masses (blah blah blah!) Enjoy:
Tubthumping by Chumbawamba - I don't really have to say much about this song. It was a Top 40 hit song when it was out. Hey, what the hell happened to Chumbawamba anyway? :P
Flashdance (What a Feeling) by Magika - This song is from a movie of the same name. It was an incredibly popular movie and had an equally popular soundtrack. They both shaped the face of pop culture when they were out in the 80s. It was originally sung by Irene Cara. I had actually forgotten all about this song until I played 3rd Mix.
In the Navy '99 by Captain Jack - The original was a disco song by the Village People. Okay, so this isn't exactly my favorite Captain Jack song, but it was popular over here when it was out. It was even going to be used in a commercial for the navy, but the idea was scrapped when the navy heard rumors about homosexual innuendo in the song. Wild. ;P
Get Up (Before The Night Is Over) by Technotronic feat. Ya Kid K - I don't know much about this song, but I do remember it getting a lot of radio air time when I was a kid.
Holiday by Who's That Girl! - This is a popular song that was originally done by Madonna back in the 80s.
Xanadu by The Olivia Project - This song is also from a movie of the same name. It's a really weird movie that I wont even try to explain, but if you do ever watch it... it's quite possibly one of THE most gayest movies EVER. And I don't mean gay as in that stupid way people say 'That's gay!' just to be dicks. It was done by Olivia Newton John.
Have You Never Been Mellow (MM Groovin Mix) by The Olivia Project - First of all, the original version of this song was in the first domestic DDR release, so there is no reason for this one not to be included. Okay, this song was originally done by Olivia Newton John, and I may not be right with my dates... but I believe this song was no.1 back in... 1975 I believe. So yeah. :)
Never Ending Story by DJ AC DC - Have you ever SEEN Never Ending Story 1, 2, or 3? Nuff Said! :P
Against All Odds by Deja Vu feat. Tasmin - This song is also from a movie of the same name. Another 80s movie. It was actually done by a male vocalist, Phil Collins, and it was also incredibly popular, but I don't think it changed the face of pop culture like Flashdance did. ;)
Moonlight Shadow (New Vocal Version) by Missing Heart - Okay, for some reason information about this song escapes me... but I know for a fact that it's a very old song. I don't know if it was a big popular song in the states or anything.
Oops!... I did it again (Fired Up Mix) by Rochelle - Okay, now I'm gonna laugh at you and possibly freak out if you have no idea where this song is from. o_o Its Britney Freakin Spears MAN!!!
The Centre of The Heart by Roxette - Roxette is a band from the 80s... I think. :P Don't get mad if I got my dates wrong. I don't know how popular they were in the states, Europe definitely.
Look at Us by Sarina Paris - Okay, this song, I think is probably as played out on the radio as Sandstorm by Darude is. :P Anyway, Sarina Paris is this chick with a big shnoz. :P JUST KIDDING. I like her, I'm being silly. :P
Ordinary World by Aurora feat. Naimee Coleman - Oh wait... They did this one already. :) Hey, anyone see the music video? :) Yes, there is a music video.
It's Raining Men by Geri Halliwell - This once was an annoying song by The Weather Girls and is basically the gay man's anthem. ;) :D Anyway, Geri Halliwell, the goddess, the lovely, my wife... um... anyway... (former Spice Girl) did a cover of it not to long ago and it somehow found it's way on DDR. :) Heh. Yay. :P
Anyway, I may have missed a whole gaggle of songs, but I made this list up off the top of my head... just for kicks and giggles. Okay, whatever. I'm done now. ;P Tired.
Peace.
Oh yeah, Konami gives us E-ROTIC!!! @_@ Damn you!!! :) Maybe I should start a petition. Would anyone sign it? :) |
