i dont think anyone should rate difficulty as "trick" or "maniac". those just arent accurate enough. one maniac song could be 6 step while a trick song could be 7.
in my humble opinion people should just rate songs by how many feet is on the difficulty display wotsit thingermajigger.
i think 4-5 are the best difficulties for doing freestyles on (tho i have little experience) cuz there's enough steps to give u a good limit, but not so much thats its way too hard.

About the breaking thing...Hmmm...Well I know a few moves that I can think of that are possible.

-Backwards rollouts to handstands
-Jumping handstands
-One handed jumping handstands
-certain footwork
-poses at the end of a song

Thats all i can think of. I've done jumping handstands before. Too scared to try one hand. Peace.

Okay, I have a freestyling q.

My best routine is Ghosts on Standard. Some of the best parts are:

L+R, U, L+R, D, L+R, U, L+R, D, etc.
I spin around and it flows perfectly!!!!

If you turn off freeze arrow in the middle there is a HUGE gap. I'll pull off something cool then.

But what about the rest of the song? Is anyone familiar with these dance steps that can give me a little help on what to try and do?

THX

I've seen some interesting freestyles to easier catas (On DEMON FRICKIN ROAD nonetheless). I thought it looked pretty cool, although part of it had to be the shock factor that somebody was freestyling on demon road.

freestyling...

as far as b'boying while play ddr, you can bust out simple six steps, and maybe a couple of poses, but I dont think its possible.

Now this bugs me the most outta anything, anything...

Ok say you start freestyling, and do your handslaps, you do your knee drops, then afterwards you wanna go past do those and more into 'dancing.' Before you do this....freakin learn to dance!!

Oh well.....heres my 2 cents......considering ima fat buttocks(250 lbs) and, in my opinion, i think i could freestyle okay. I used to do all that knee drop, spinning, bar raping, and hand plant stuff then i noticed i didnt really remind me of dancing(how many peeps do u see in a club putting their knees or hands on the ground beside breaking?) N-e-ways....I started just doing stuff that felt normal or natural to me....I mostly freestyle on doubles light maybe standard depending on the song. FYI...i am mostly into rap/hip-hop and techno/rave so tha songs i usually pick r predominantly upbeat. My favs @ freestyling r A Minute extended mix, B4U. and Do It Right.....thats enuff 4 now....so if u just learn 1 thing about freestyling.....just do what comes natural and dont force urself to do ish u cant or feel awkward doing aight?.....well..that was my 2 cents and about a dollar. Well, I've really grown to the Light steps in Long Train Runnin'.
I've done some freestyle in it(little kneedrops but not too many).
It flows well. I just need to play it more often to get better. Plus I'm trying to work on variations to hitting the long freeze arrows.
It wasn't too bad in my opinion it did attract a crowd but I'm still gonna work on it. My basic advice is just to feel comfortable doing it. I started at one point to clap loudly and sure I may look like a total challenged person but I did it with confidence which makes it look like your having a blast. And that's my number one rule of FSing. If you feel embarassed FSing than don't bother doing it.

I can't do the handstand stuff you were saying, I'm working on handstands, I don't have them doen yet. I'm just beggining to breakdance, I was thinking of doing poses at the endings of songs. I can do poses.

Wish me luck I do my first fs tourneyin January. I wanted to go with dance/flow/belly dancing. Ambitious... yes, but I think with practice and focus on choreography it will come off ok. I kinda feel the same way as some others who posted too many knee drops and hand plants come off as sort gay. Don't get me wrong I've done a few myself, but not in excess. Still I don't expect to win this tourney. I just want to gain the respect of my peers.

Dude if you're fat you should seriously think about learning how to pop. Fat people are the best poppers because when they hit and tick...the hit looks x4 as hard as when a skinny person does it. It looks f#cking cool as hell cuz their body mass makes the hit look way harder. There was some dude from LA or NY who won a sh#tload of popping battles and he was like 200+ lbs. Plus it's not much of an energy draining style, anybody can do it.

unique form of dancing that often involves liquid, poppin', lockin', strobin', and occasionally some variations of break dance moves.

liquid - making your body appear almost wave like... arm waves, body waves, etc.

poppin/lockin - terms often interchangeable, but gives a heavy illusion of almost being unrealistic. Depending on the persons style, some may incorporate some glides to make it look like they're floating across the floor. It's really quite difficulty to explain, but basically you move 2+ body parts simultaneously and lock one of them while the other moves, then that locks, and your other body parts move, and then that locks - rinse and repeat.

strobin' - gives the illusion that you're under a strobe light. you move your body/arms with 1/3 or 1/2 of a second pause.

taq - however they do have an disadvantage of not being able to move their torso/chest/stomach effectively as a skinny person.

Sounds really cool...

Is it possible to self teach those things ?

With pretty much no freestylers in my area (only saw a guy try it with a few hand plant/knee drops and leg tricks once - wasn't really a routine though), I am still worried about starting =\

very easy to start and much easier than break dancing in terms of strength required.

you can practice anywhere... hell i even practice sitting in front of the computer while listening to music or while brushing my teeth infront of the mirror.

its hard to do it at first, but after you get it, it's quite easy as it just comes naturally (like riding a bicycle). There are only a few basics to learn, and once you have that, you're all set.

waves - start out with the arm wave (do one arm first), from your finger to your shoulder, and once you feel comfortable with that, alternate from your shoulder to your fingers. Then do your other hand... then once you got that, you can make a fool arm wave from your left hand through your shoulders to your right hand. it takes quite a bit of practice (2 weeks of consecutive practice before you'll feel confident). After your arm wave you'll understand how it works, then you can start on your body (from head to toe).

glides - moon walk first; it's REALLY easy so don't even stress it. they have plenty of glides on how to do it online, but be forewarned, when you try to do it, it won't feel right; it'll feel clunky - but do it in front of a mirror with shoes, or video tape it. never mind the guides online, i'll try to explain it: start both of your feet flat, then slide your right backward onto its toes.... keep your right foot on its toes, then slide on your left foot - while your left foot is sliding slowly touch back down onto your heels with your right foot (remember when its going back down, you're suppose to be sliding your left foot back onto its toes) After your right foot has touched, and your left foot on its toes, slide your right foot back on to its toes ~ it's pretty much a rinse and repeat from there on. Very basic slide, but you get the idea that its just an optical illusion. you can fool around with your feet afterwards, it's really not that hard. (shoes with NO grip are a big help)

Tickin/strobin' - lets face it, it just looks cool as fuck when done right. Get yourself a clock and move your hand only when the clock ticks (hence tickin'). So really you're doing small fast movements every second. You can just about tick anything, arm waves, body waves, etc.) (i ticked my hat in my era routine at scandia in the vid section). Once you feel comfortable you can go down to two ticks per second.

poppin and lockin - blah too hard to explain... you have to watch a vid to understand biggrin.gif but basically has robotic effects.
