Last I heard, KoJiRoH was having "minor problems" getting his adapter to work. (i.e. Not being able to do jumps...) But i don't know maybe he's fixed it. I use the EMS USB2 adapter and it's never given me a moment's trouble. |

that adapter will NOT work properly. try to seal it back up and return it . Get an EMS or a parallel adapter instead.
EDIT: Koji CANNOT do left-right jumps but he can do up-down. I dont know why but it works |

My question is, if you can map the buttons with a pc-adapter, can you then disable specific buttons with it, like the stupid Square and Triangle?
Phantom steps stemming from those two buttons alone bring down my performance a lot, and if I could just disable the buttons from being read without having to phsyically open the pad and cut wires would be awesome. _________________

i dont consider those 'minor problems' at all. seems like he made a big deal about something that half-works.
i agree, my EMS adapter has never give me any trouble. i dont have any lag either. |

Bah. This is crap. For a product that says directly on the packaging "Especially for DDR and WinXP", you'd think that it would work......Stupid crappy converter....... _________________

no doubt. Then again 90% of the adapters on the market "half-work". If only half were good enough. Then again it apears to be good enough for KoJiRoH. I mean really, jumps are way overrated. Plus i'm sure that His adapter kicks total booty on Have You Never Been Mellow/basic/little/0.5X |

Okay, i have new info for you all.
The new batch of kiky-joy and super jobox use a clever kludge.
If you hold both left and right, the axis will pulse back and forth between left and right. This works fine with ddrpc (except that you can't PA jumps as well as you souhld be able to!), and sort of works with Stepmania. Because freezes take an amount of time to break, you can still do them, but jumps will be ever so slightly off, enough to ruin your perfect attack.
To use these converters with DWI, Joy2Key is needed, because it ALWAYS ignores axes. Depending on how joy2key functions, you may end up with anything between great response and horrible play.
The latest beta preview build fixes a bug in stepmania tha tprevents the y axis from working.
So, to sum up.
Old KIKY-JOY/OLD Super JOYBOX. will not work with ANY PC DDR, including Konamis' official one.
NEW KIKY JOY/NEW SUPER JOYBOX: almost fully compatible with DDRPC and Stepmania latest beta, requires Joy2Key for DWI compatability. _________________

if the only prob your having is the conflictions between left and right and up and down then you can take apart your mat and re-wire it so thats u connect the triangle button to up and the square button to left so that when you jump the left right/up down conflict will no longer happen because you will actually be pressing right and square/down and triangle however you can use the controls config on the pc to make it so it registers square as left and triangle as up so then you will no longer get the conflicting problems and your mat will still work on your PS because square is automatically registered as left and triangle as up. the only prob was when i took my mats apart the wires werent labelled so i couldnt do this , one more advantage of this is it will disable the old square and triangle so you wont get those annoying phantom steps.
BTW mine are made by BLAZE so they are kinda crap they even have X and O in the wrong place and only has 7 wires even though there is 10 buttons which means that my mat is mapped on an axis which sucks so i cant re-wire mine even if i did know which wire were which |

Are any of these NOT sold on ebay?! I hate using ebay.
Are any of the Kick-joy or whatever (the ones that WORK with DWI, hopefully) sold on REGULAR sites? Links?
I'm REALLY into DWI, but I'm getting SO sick of playing with my Gamepad Pro (a hand pad). I need to DANCE to these >_< _________________

goto page 2 of this thread its FREE except for parts |
Errr.....yeah? And how would I build that, with wood? I'm not too good at soldering - what am I supposed to do - solder the wires right from the PSX pad connector to the Parralel port pins? Or am I supposed to rip open a male connector?
More. Details. Needed. _________________

you go out and buy the resisters nessesery and a extencion cable. take the extension cable and cut the end off that does not plug into your controler. they are kindof cheap. from there you just need to goto a store (like radio shack) and get a DB25 paralel port end that will fit into your port in the back of your computer. you sodder the risisters as the diagram shows to the controler. (you might want to use a volt ohm meater to deturman what wires goto what parts of the controler) it took me an hour or 2 to put togheather. and then you put the case over the finished adapter and your done. (make sure when soddering that you dont acdidently connect things that shouldnt be, ortherwise you could fry your computer and your pad) _________________

And by risistors you mean wires, right? If not, than explain. _________________

I think he means Resistors as in:
Which can be found at any radioshack.
If you aren't sure what resistors are, perhaps you should check into a premade adapter. There are a few out there that work very well, and require no previous knowledge of "complex" *cough* electrical components and concepts. |

Aw screw it. I've already broken 3 PSX's when trying to Solder.
Anyone know of an adaptor that works that I have to (god forbit) PAY for? I've seen plenty in this topic, but is there ANYWHERE to get them other than Ebay? And of course one that works with DWI.... _________________
