I must admit that the article amused me. I know a lot of people who don't *get* DDR. I don't mind that their opinions are different from mine.

I rarely fold my DDR mat. I leave it on the floor in front of the TV in the basement. When I do have to fold it, to transport it, I fold it in thirds vertically.

I am new to DDR, tho I know what you meant by feet level. I definitely think of my status as light. Foot level is variable. I can play any foot level on light, tho I think I have only seen it up to 5. ...

If it is a softpad, which is what I think you mean, there really isn't anything you can do. You could possibly tape it to some particle board, or what not, to see if it responds better there.
