yea it is just to protect the panels.
you arent supposed to unscrew screws to take it off, but since i unscrewed my arcade mod to see if my graphics were under it i just took of the rest then...

id say find an old piece of plywood, and duct tape your mat to it

if your upstairs is harder carpet or wood, then you will need a hard surface under your mat downstairs.

i had the same problem, because the carpet in my room was too thick, but my softpad worked gr ...

from what i hear the control boxes that come with the pad do have a usb.

they said that i should get it on or before Jun ...
