Hey guys,

I was just wondering when DDR caught on in your area, or when you first heard about it. Thanks a lot

Tim

it's been a thing here ever since the arcade got a machine. that was 2 years ago. the amount of people playing here has gradually grown and now the arcade is packed on friday nights and saturdays.

I found it at Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. No one in Dover, NH had heard of the game!

It caught on here in Oklahoma around 2000, but didn't really get *big* until near the end of last year, beginning of this year.

I heard about it late September/early October 1998.

DDR still hasn't caught on in my city... When I was going to college in MSU(summer now), there were about 6 people that I have seen play... Sooooooo... I don't think it has really caught on in Northern Michigan yet. But, I guess it's been "available" in southern Michigan for quite some time now... for some reason, I rarely see people playing though.

That makes me feel n00bish. I didn't hear about the game until January of 02. I started playing then.

People are losing interest now though. None of the people that were playing when we first got a machine still play. Mouse and I are the oldest vets to the game here I think.

We got a machine here in good ol' Aiken in the fall of 2001. I started playing in the summer following.

As of right now, we have no machine (Namco apparently felt that $300 a week wasn't enough money; the machine they put in it's place makes less than $5), but we should get one back.

Everybody who ever played "hardcore" when we first got the game still plays, save one or two people.

Personnally, I heard of the game in 1998, but I didn't wan't to play it because it looked gay. Look at me now! laugh.gif

Sorry if I went a bit off topic.

Well I live in San Diego so in my opinion it didnt take long at all for DDR to become popular here because San Diego is much a major tourist spot. However I still only rarely meet someone outside an arcade or the forums who plays DDR on a regular basis
