I tried freestyling a little when I first started out. Then I started picturing what I looked like. Fortunately I stopped doing that before anyone was subjected to blindness and a deep pity for me. |
pump it up freestyle is alive and well. i consider myself a freestyle player because i dont really care if i suck at it, i just find it more fun than normal playing and i enjoy getting unusual stares from crowds. |

see thats exactly what im talkin bout man | Some people just can't do it man. I was one of those people. The kind of style I was trying to do wasn't mine, it was more like a collaboration of other stylers I had seen, so I don't think it could've looked very natural.
It got me looser though, so I gained more fluid relaxed motion while I PA. Sometimes I'll still groove on it a little if I'm really feeling the song but in no way can it be considered freestyling. It's more of the style a lot of people were playing in DDR's early days before PA became the obsession of the game in around 2002. Man, knee drops used to be the thing with all the players I saw that made me want to play. I miss those days. |

At least in our community, freestyle became no more than a novelty once the skill level of PA reached the point where it was competitively interesting. _________________

Enough of the e-tears!
Freestyling actually takes skill and talent.

I hope you're not implying that PA/FA players aren't skilled.
But I do agree 100% that freestyling takes skill and talent as well.
I do sort of wish FS was bigger, although I wouldn't do it, because it's fun to watch and IMO the community seems more chill than the PA/FA crowd. Of course that's just from my limited observation. _________________
